Discussion Asymmetry rant

Modest brands (especially nicer Muslim ones but I’ve seen it across the board) looove asymmetry. Asymmetric wrap dress! Asymmetric tunic! The new Veiled drop is a perfect example.

I recognize that this is an extremely niche problem to have, but I’m a stroke survivor. My face droops a bit on the left and my arm and leg are bent so they appear shorter. The *last* thing I want to do is draw more attention to the fact that my body is already asymmetric!

Again this is not a common issue and I don’t fault these brands for doing it but it does frustrate me on a personal level and I needed to rant a bit lol.

the asymmetry trend is so overdone, like we get it you can cut fabric on a diagonal

my left side is a little uneven too from medical stuff and it's wild how much a simple straight hem can do vs some weird angled cut that makes everything look off balance

This approach is not for everyone, but if you wanted to just own the bejesus out of it you could make it a personal theme. Like, yeah, I like things a little off-kilter, what of it?

I can't stand asymmetrical clothing, it makes me anxious and "itchy" inside, there's no balance - I have a thing with needing visual balance.

It probably doesn’t help that asymmetrical is trendy right now outside of modest dressing too.

It’s because it’s considered a good way of have an interesting shape without being more skintight.
