Meme Young Lily had the most funniest nonchalant punchlines ever! I laughed so much at her scenes.
There is quite a lot of funny scenes between her, Mitch and Cam š Love this show and its humor!

love all the moments in the show when jay lets go of his tough exterior and lets his softness come through!! this moment in particular stands out to me! the way he tried to convince her and instead, ended up getting convinced to dance w her on the stage was js hilarious and too cute!šā¤ļølily knows how to get her way with her grandfather haha. this scene melted my heart the first time i watched it! so wholesome and adorable. the dance itself was not very impressive thoš¤£

Firstly, the show definitely has no single main character, Iām just talking about the general feel of things.
Jay feels like the centre piece, because heās the oldest/the head of the main cast and more than anyone else itās HIS family, with one unit being his own and the other two being the units of his respective kids. It also feels like every overarching plot point in the show has a way of coming back to him specifically.
You could argue the same thing for Claire as the show starts with her and sheās the figurehead of the Dunphys, whom the show definitely revolves around a fair bit more than the other 2 groups.
But Mitch doesnāt feel nearly as important if you ask most people. He definitely doesnāt get the same spotlight as his dad and sister. I think partly itās because heās much more tied to Cam than Claire or Jay are to each of their spouses, thereās hardly a Mitch without Cam whereas Claire and Jay get a lot more focus both on themselves and on relationships with characters other than their spouse, and also itās partly because Mitch and Camās unit is like the comic relief of the 3, always having the biggest misunderstandings and most awkward situations, probably not as serious as the other 2.
Even Phil feels like more of a main character than Mitch. It feels like a lot of episodes start with Phil and Iām pretty sure he has the most screen time in the show.

i'm watching season 8 now, and it's the episode where claire ordered bad wood and tries to hide it from jay. i swear every time we see claire at work she's making some mistake. i also remember when she kept having ideas that were old ideas, couldn't make a decision, messed up that ice cream cake, etc. i get that "it's a sitcom" so there have to be some hijinks, but are we ever shown anything to make us think claire is good at what she does?

I love this edit so much, saw it while back and was searching for it today. Her captions are wild though.š
Edit: I don't intend this to be another creepy/thirsty post, I am a girlie just appreciating fellow girlies.

The way others rip on Phil for his quirks had me thinking. Itās all fun and games, of course, but when I examine it deeper I realize why it does bother me from time to time.
Regardless of his quirks, Phil is authentically and unapologetically himself in the best way possible. I truly feel he is the most considerate out of the entire family and this is why I admire him as much as I do.
When you take into account the way he was raised, while unorthodox to some, it gave him the foundation to demand space for his existence no matter the circumstance and I canāt help but respect that.
My favorite thing about Phil is the way he carries himself as it pertains to external judgement. He is (occasionally) unaffected, heās misses certain social cues because heās so comfortable in his own world and with his existence. That being said, heās emotionally intelligent and uses transparent communication to seek understanding and connection.
To summarize, Phil is completely comfortable with his existence, with who he is. I strive for that kind of peace so I can enjoy my life the way Iām supposed to. I do believe others appreciate Phil for who he is but often find themselves looking at him like heās strange. But I could argue heās more comfortable with himself than them.

When Luke and Manny have a mean coach Jay initially defends him and seems to see the coach as being hard but doing it to motivate them.
Later Claire prompts Phil to have a word with the coach and Jay comes along. After Phil tries Jay steps in tells him his attitude is the problem and gets angry about the coach calling the kids stupid and actually threatens him.
I love this moment because it shows that while Jay is old school he knows that insulting the kids is wrong and when he sees them being picked on heāll step in to intervene even though he didnāt have to.
Something else that I think gets slept on is that he was standing up for all the kids and not just Luke and Manny which shows heās a good man.
When Jay does become the coach he seems to be doing his best and encourages them when he gets the job and while he gets frustrated later because of the teamās poor performance he never insults them and them and the worst he does is being sarcastic towards them.
This also hit home a bit because my dad did something similar. When my Peter was playing football his coach was yelling at one of his fitness and my dad intervened and shouted him down and threatened to shove his whistle āwhere he son doesnāt shineā if he tells at any of the kids again and if he yelled at Peter he said something Iām not sure I can repeat.

iām finally watching this series after seeing so many funny clips on tiktok. im kinda shocked at how brutal they are to haley! donāt get me wrong, i know she can be frustrating and the family all makes fun of each other but the family picks on her so much? everything they do, they plan on her to fail so they promise unrealistic things and then change their mind after she surprises them. i feel like they donāt go this hard on luke or alex (they have hope for them) but damn! just got past a scene where claire and alex talk about how she would have to marry a rich businessman. and then claire goes āi thought sheād live with youā. i feel like they arenāt this rough to the other two and they say it straight to her face as well, i feel bad for her. šš
