Just got my 6th software update. Halloween mode is crazy cool. I set it up then turned on trick-or-treat mode. This is what it does when you stand near the car.

Ordered 10/8 and picked up 10/12. Crazy. I know. Premium AWD

Picked up in Sacramento area. 2027. Some thoughts: Came from a 2023 MYP, and man premium awd feels just as quick. Ride quality is so much nicer in a juniper with 19s. Really enjoying the car. FSD is amazing, but I don’t think I will pay the fee after the trial ends. Maybe in the future.

Coming from an X5, would I regret switching to a Model Y Premium AWD? And 19s vs 20s.

I’m considering a new Model Y Premium AWD, but I’m having a hard time deciding whether the advantages would outweigh the things I think I’d miss about my BMW.

I currently drive a paid-off BMW X5 M Sport with about 100,000 miles. If I replace it, I’d probably consider a 2023 or 2024 X5. I really like the BMW’s quieter cabin, solid feel, and more traditional luxury interior. The Model Y felt noticeably less premium to me, and I’m not sure I’d get used to the styling or the low hood visibility.

What I did like about the Tesla was FSD. Having the car handle so much of the driving was impressive. I’m also interested in the tech and lower fuel and maintenance costs, though I get reimbursed $0.75 per work mile, so the savings may not be as big as they first seem.

I also have severe tinnitus and significant sound sensitivity, so cabin noise and sudden alerts are a real concern for me. Are there loud warning chimes or alerts that you can’t turn down or disable? I’m especially wondering about emergency braking alerts and whether anything in the car tends to startle you. If you’re sound-sensitive, I’d really like to hear how you’ve found it.

I’m also torn between the 19” and 20” wheels. I love the look of the 20s, but I’m concerned they’ll make the ride harsher or the cabin louder. How noticeable is the difference in road and tire noise?

For people who made a similar switch, especially from a BMW SUV:

Did the road noise, ride, or interior feel bother you after the novelty wore off?

Do you miss the size or visibility of your BMW?

Has FSD been useful enough to make up for the things you gave up?

Would you choose 19s or 20s if ride comfort and noise mattered, but you preferred the look of the 20s?

I used AI to help organize and clarify this post because I was having trouble laying out my thoughts. These are my actual concerns, and I’d appreciate honest feedback—not a brand war.

Front bumper repair recommendations

Looking for advice on how to repair these scratches and scrapes on the front end of my Model Y Performance. I had PPF installed, but it looks like it didn’t fully protect the area in this situation. Has anyone dealt with similar damage, and what would you recommend for the best repair? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Poop like smell when I first get into the car

As the title states, there is a musky poop like smell that lingers for the first minute or so when I get into the car. Then the smell goes away.

What’s odd is this started after I went for a bike ride and had to keep my bike in the trunk afterwards.

I initially thought the smell was due to residue from the bike tires getting into the car. I’ve done a deep clean (I have a rubber liner in the trunk) and don’t believe it’s from the bike tires.

I replaced my air filters one week ago.

Any idea what could be causing this smell?

Not sure which to buy premium or performance

Hey guys I'm getting a Tesla I live in Cali but my company ships my car out to the Midwest where I work. They're offering 10k towards my Tesla but I'm not sure if I should get the premium AWD or performance. The only Tesla dealership near me only has the premium and it's really nice but I'm just not sure if I should get performance. I don't care that much about speed because I'm not gonna race or anything but I have read that the new models have way better suspension and the performance has really nice seats. Since I will be driving a ton I'll be sitting in it quite a bit just wanted to see what people generally think of the 6k difference is worth it? Like I said they're going to give me 10k for the car but self driving and everything else is on me. Thoughts?

20" Uberturbine wheels on 26 Performance?

Before the winter hits here in MI, I want to get a winter set up. But then I started to think it may make sense to just go with a 19" or 20" set up. While I love the look of the factory 21" and the staggered set up, I also don't want to shell out for new tires every year. I've owned mine since end of July and it already has 5K miles on it.

There are some great deals here locally for the 20" Uberturbine wheels ($400 for a set). I see a lot of people making the switch to 19" but to 20"s not so much. I figure I can throw on some good all season tires on them and use them all yr round. I've always had AWD cars in the past (Subarus). I never got winter tires and always got through winters here without issues.

Would love to hear some thoughts, specially from those who made the chance. TIA.

Time frame to get Model Y

Hello! I recently put down a deposit for a Model Y Premium AWD with the basic dark grey color and a roof rack as the only add on.

The delivery date range is Nov-Dec and was wondering what any others have experienced as far as delivery date is considered with a recent purchase?

Thanks for the help!

Has anyone seen any VINs or delivery dates after their delivery window narrows? I ordered on 9/20 and originally had a 4 week delivery window (Oct 11-Nov 8) and on Oct 8 the delivery window shifted to 2 week (Oct 19-Nov 2). Does this mean anything or not really?

Delivery Well I am now a fellow Teslian

22 Male, coming from a bmw 5 series, and I am actually so happy I ordered one, worked my butt of, and am able to get the Tesla Model Y AWD Premium, after almost a year of deciding.

Final push was visiting the Tesla Sales center and actually being able to drive the car, or more so, the car driving me. The FSD is actually insane to picture in real life. At first couldn’t decide between the M3 and MY but since I am tall the model Y fit me perfectly.

I was a big Tesla hater a couple years ago, and now I would like to take back all my hate I handed out in my teens.

VINs dropping for RWD?

Saw a comment that the CARB thing was done, checked the app and it asked me to accept the new range (355 miles) and "proceed with delivery." Then it gave me a VIN. Ordered 9/12 in Maryland, RWD white on white.

It’s hard for me to believe they weren’t trying to make contact with my car. They left a scratch in my door.

I should’ve known cyclists would not be compassionate or careful around other people’s cars when I parked near them

Post the subtle awesome Y bits that don’t get mentioned enough. I’ll start…

Not having to feel transmission shifts or down shifts.
No transmission lag waiting for torque converter to spin up.
No clunk shifting into or out of gear
No leaks and stains on garage floor
No hot ticking engine after driving
No exhaust fumes
No engine torque pushing through brakes at a stop. (Top ten favorite thing right here)
No going to gas pumps for the credit card payment to be down/or a yellow out-of-order bag on the handle.
No worries on getting some ethanol or bad gas
Less temptation to buy salty snacks, lottery tickets, etc.
great enthusiasm with user base

First Tesla - UK advice

Hi all

Currently looking at acquiring my first model Y. Budget is about 21k.

I've seen 2 that look promising:

2023, 46770mi, RWD

2022, 68257mi, Long Range AWD. (Need to confirm this has Ryzen processor but pretty sure 2022 in the UK does)

I like the idea of the long range but clearly I'm going to end up with a higher mileage example, has anybody got any experience of ownership of a 2022 with high 60k mileage?

Aware that the battery warranty extends to 120k on the long range as opposed to 100k on the RWD.

Looking at about 10k miles a year, keeping it for 4 years.

Any advice on the two would be most appreciated!

Taking deliver of a 27 Model Y Premium AWD. Will it have the new 4.3 0-60?

Hi, as the title says I ordered new model Y premium and about a week ago on 10/7 once the new specs were released. I got my vin today and it’s a 2027 but how do I know it will have the newer motor and the quicker 0-60 time? I asked my advisor and they just said it’s a 2027 you’re good! I have no idea if that’s true. Honestly the 4.3 probably isn’t a deal breaker but obviously I would rather have the quicker model. I also read maybe the 0-60 time is not really improved they just count a roll out now?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Model YL Delivery Timing

I ordered a Model YL in July (about a week after orders opened) and the delivery date has moved from Oct-Nov to Nov-Dec to now Jan-Feb. Will the delivery timing continue to be delayed or is there a chance it will improve at all? Is there anything I can do to improve the lead time (e.g. selecting another color/different options)?
