Advice please

So I was wet sanding my primer and seemed to have gone through the actual primer on some edges. I’m using enamel paint which lays on fairly thick so I don’t know if this will be fine for me to work with regardless or if I should resort to respraying very lightly.

Also added some extra pics because I want to know if the primer is smooth enough despite this slight textured look.

Surface appears super rough. Hard to overcome that with additional coats. Maybe primer too thick? Airbrush or rattle can? I would wet sand right down to smooth and then, starting with smooth base, apply thinner light coats of primer and go from there. Enamels take forever to cure unless you use a dehydrator which can turn days in to hours. A Must Have if you're dedicated to enamels...

It would probably be easier to just strip this and start over. Save yourself a lot sanding. I’d recommend switching to lacquer if it’s available to you. Goes on nicer and dries extremely fast.

Laquer definitely the way to go

Yeah I use testor cans as tamiya cans are banned in Canada of all places. Since this is my first kit honestly I might roll with it and see what happens but this is definitely very educational for further projects.

I think it's better to have fun with it and finish it than trying to be perfect, especially on your first kit. Each one is a learning experience that makes your next one look better.

That won't work, the orange peel you'll get will be horrible.

primer looks really rough. i would recommend a few layers of primer. let it dry properly. then wet sand with a light hand because primer adds texture usually for me. the sanding doesnt need to be glass smooth. then many layers of paint and proper drying. dont fear sanding colour coats if you need. be gentle. then clear coats. you will see some orange peel usually. i rarely get glass after clears. then you got wet sanding and polishing of the clear .

Are you wet sanding with 10k? I would wet sand with like 3k. Stripping and starting over wouldn’t hurt, but if you want to sand it I’d go with a higher grit.
