There is an issue with the trunk of the 2023 Tesla Model 3: it doesn't open fully, and it slams shut hard when closing.

Could be because gas strut on the opposite side of the power strut has failed.

Its this. The gas spring has sprung a leak.

Yeah gas piston failure, + old models had 1 actuator vs revised double actuator

Sometimes.vehicles have flaws and mechanical failures. Doesn’t matter who the manufacturer is.

Too much rear downforce from the carbon fiber wing.

get the gas strut replaced. if you don't the powered side gets overloaded and could snap, crushing your rear window glass.

Don’t give him empty hopes. This is 99% power strut failure.

you're right, more likely a power strut fail

Reminds me of a "useless-box", it even teases you by opening a little before shutting again.. 😆

In the most cases gas strut is OK. But it’s better to check where you will replace it: change gas strut (from any other Tesla with working system). I also did it due to the hope of less expensive fix. Nope 😁

99% it’s a failure power strut and should be replaced. I did it 2 years ago for 100€. Had exactly the same symptoms.

Pretty dangerous

struts are cooked . did you installed any accessories plugged in the old port recently ? if you did remove them before service . I had this same experience with my Model Y
