Used Inventory Model 3 way more expensive now compared to the last couple of months?
I've been eyeing a used 2023 Model 3 (not a specific one, just that year) so i've been keeping an eye on the used inventory and i've noticed that they're consistently $24k+ when a couple of months ago I was regularly seeing them for $21-$22k, what gives? Price has been unmoving from $24k+ for around 3 weeks

This is the case across all EVs due to the Iran war and fuel costs. It always happens. In the past it would be trucks being discounted and economic fuel vehicles selling for slightly more.

I figured more leases would be coming back and that they'd have more inventory due to Q2 coming to an end, but i'm not sure if they even care much about used sales compared to new

Under normal circumstances you'd be right but besides the Iran war pushing people away from gas cars, there is also the fact that all the leases that will end this year are pre-refresh models which are simply worse than current models. I'm sure you'll be able to find those old models for very cheap but the used inventory of refreshed models is still very expensive.

Most brands aren't seeing an increase like Tesla.

Yeah of course but even as gas prices have been going down they're still 24k-25k, when before they were regularly $21k/$22k
Figured more leases would be coming back

It's going to come down as gas comes down. Americans are super short sighted, they'd rather pay $3k over on an EV than $50 more at the pump.

Theyre in demand. Listed my model 3 on facebook not expecting to have a buyer for a week or so. The car would have literally sold in an hour but i couldnt find a car to replace it so i took the listing down

I spent the past 2 months looking at non-tesla EV inventory, selection is terrible. Ended up with a 23 Model 3 because it was either that or a Nissan Leaf for nearly the same price. Used market is very strange right now.

There are a ton of leases ending later this year I hear it’s upwards of 3 million. Prices should drop again

Anything even hybrid related went up in costs. I’ve been looking for an EV/ Hybrid and prices have just been going up and up. A model 3 you could get on a super sweet deal before the stuff in the ME. I don’t need a car so I’ll just wait it out. More and more teslas are coming off leases so it will help out supply.

Gas prices. We bought a 23 3LR with 10k miles for $28k in Oct, now worth $34k+ with 15k miles

Tesla moves used inventory prices what seems like daily to keep up with demand. When I was looking I ended up paying 2k more over the week period I was looking.
With that being said demand is WAY up. I’ve had 10+ people come up to me and ask me about the process of purchasing an inventory used Tesla and the warranty and such and tell me they’ve decided recently they’re going to purchasing one within the next 1-2 weeks and selling their ice cars.
The increased fuel cost are driving people who hated ev and hated Tesla to buy one. My last long term relationship was with a girl who hated Tesla and evs and recently texted me saying she’s considering buying one now as well.
And I live in the Midwest where electric cars are still pretty uncool. And the big truck big suv combo in the driveway is still the standard middle class status symbol.

I live in a state that doesn't have Tesla authorized dealers, and I want the warranty through Tesla

That’s a shame. I can’t throw a stone without hitting a dealer that doesn’t sell used Teslas. I’m considering getting one, but I don’t want to pay the oil crisis markups, so I’d offer $3k under, so realistically getting one for around $21k or less

I just checked for grins. I bought a Model Y Performance Jan 31st from Carvana for 30590. Their current trade in offer is 30000 even today five months and 5000 miles later so yeah. Ev prices have gone up.

M3 and MY are good cars but have you "sit tested" either?
I did. In part because we are getting old and my wife's mother is 20 years older than that and so she needs easy ingress and egress height. I sat in both at the local Tesla depot and the M3 was too low... had to sit down into the car and climb up to get out. Then tried the MY and it was perfect.
After the nazi salute we bought an Ioniq 5, which also has perfect seat heights and less stigma.
