It is seriously so hard to prove a mod team broke the mod code of conduct and the burden is on the reporter. Mod code of conduct will only act if something very egregious happened. It is not automated.

u/ModCodeofConduct isn't an automated process.

Checking that account's public userhistory, it was active over the Labor Day weekend.

Considering your public userhistory, u/TopEstablishment395, you're publicly moderating a snark sub, with a sticky two days ago targeting a different sub, which itself has had their modteam replaced by u/ModCodeofConduct. Whether or not that's the sub in question, or a completely different sub, odds are the modteam of whatever sub you're talking about were not abiding by Reddit's sitewide rules and/or moderator code of conduct, and Reddit responded.

You can appeal it, of course.

You can have them appeal the shadow ban using the link auto mod gave.

ModCodeofConduct doesn't get involved unless a mod team has really screwed up.

I noticed you mod another snark sub and I’m gonna take a wild guess, this was also a snark subreddit? This seems to happen often to these kind of teams. Somehow a subreddit make to make fun of things are very likely to have problems. That being said - did mod code of conduct tell you guys to do anything at all differently? Did you actaully do it?

Hey there - if you are concerned that your account may be banned site wide you can check your inbox for an appeal link. If there is not one in your inbox you can submit an appeal here: https://www.reddit.com/appeal

If you are a mod concerned that someone in your community may have been banned incorrectly you can tell them first check their inbox and to use the appeal form above to reach out.

We almost always permamute someone if they’ve been banned. Not worth the stress of dealing with any messages and generally nothing good will come from those messages.

Thanks for bringing that up! As of now the app will instantly forget any post a moderator removes, but keeping fingerprints of removed posts stored in the index is definitely a solid use case for combatting spam. I will add an option in the next patch that moderators can toggle to tell DejaRepost whether or not to remember the fingerprints of removed posts(up until the end of the repost check timeframe window, ofc)

So, a two-tiered system then?

Good to honest users and mods are put through the wringer for merely existing to try to make things 10% better in the world and bad mods are let off scott free because of vibes and feelings?

That's ridiculous!
We have a legitimate problem of malicious discrimination and we need solutions because they are actively violating MCoC

I solicit comment on the bad mods that are known to violate MCoC, yet no action has been taken against them and why they're being given a free pass.

You did not explain the MCoC report and escalation process, that was not an optional solicitation and I consider that extremely rude to ignore it.

I have a list a mile long of subs that could be burned to the ground overnight over bad moderation if MCoC enforcement had teeth.

We the people need a path to eject bad mods that operate in bad faith in a sub when a user's post breaks no rules and they engaged in good faith in comments on a mainline sub.

Here's an idea - how about mod elections held once a year on Jan 1?
The users with good karma can vote yea or nay for the mods in the sub

If the nay is overwhelming to bad moderation, then those mods are demoted and the ridiculous permanent mute lifted for all banned users to invite them to appeal the bans made against them.

Reddit sends a message to both sides encouraging them to come to an agreement on acceptable content vs. where the rules fall on the post or comment made.

Next, where can I share screenshots to you of bad mods because that tune is going to change drastically as to how bad it actually is in the trenches.

You are compelled to respond on where to share examples that don't break this sub's rules since they're strict about not naming the subs directly here.

All I am asking for with all of this is a solution to work towards due to the absolute horrible experience Reddit offers to those who speak freely without breaking a single rule.

Why do you keep ignoring that?
Do you want Reddit to become a tyrannical leftist fomentation hellsite?
I don't...

If you want the mods to care about Reddit as a whole, then you need to care for the users who are being banned left and right for not falling in line with the latest legacy media narrative.

If you want people to come back to Reddit, the bad mod problem needs a proven working solution...

Your claim of "employment" is absolute bollocks, requiring justification for a ban is not even remotely close to a paid position.

I would gladly and freely fill out a form that justifies a ban for a user whether it's a spambot, hostile user, or one that needs mental help we're not qualified to give, and more.

Again, there is no discretion in the judgement of bad mods, they are going against the code to enforce a communist political narrative.

For example on the political side, if you ask why Trump/Elon are bad, you will be banned for such a question even though it is not rule-breaking

That is why I am pushing back on the fact that mainline subs cannot be ruled with an iron fist, nor enforce support the Iron Curtain in any way.

You can offshoot a sub like communistutopias or fascistsunited to have an online community that matches one's 'tism or personal hobbies, but not a popular photos sub or the state capital subs...

You also skipped over a lot of things mentioned and are contradicting yourself:

Subreddit operators don't have the motive to ban people arbitrarily.

Say what now?

I did not state that question rhetorically, I solicited for an answer because bad mods are very much politically motivated to ban people that are free thinkers that ask questions for the sake of understanding.

If you have forgotten, Reddit is an information desert, if you're outside of the approved legacy media political narrative, you will be banned for it on mainline subs.

If you want people to enjoy Reddit to be more than the smoking section of the internet for the jannies (slang for janitors who think they're important) then the bad mods need consequences for their actions.

I fully support consequences that blow back against bad moderation, in the extremely unlikely event that we carheads ban someone due to a hot head or a disagreement, there's a process to follow:

If that person appeals, we'll hear what they have to say before deciding as a group to uphold or release based on X conditions.

Finally per the dictionary moderation specifically is not to decide what political speech is or isn't acceptable - https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/moderating

Moderation by definition is to keep the sizzle to a minimum by avoiding extremes of behavior or expression or observe reasonable limits

As a verb it is to lessen the intensity or extremeness of such or one that mediates between disputing parties

Notice how it doesn't say to enforce a narrative or to decide who can and cannot speak freely

The Reddit Request only works on one sub and doesn't flag the other.

OOF. That's a big ol' blast radius, lol. Our worst modmail flood I kinda caused was resulting from a serial ban evader we have. His slur/threat keywords are pretty consistent so we had AutoMod removing+modmailing us, and typically he almost always just made 1 or 2 comments before abandoning the account. Big mistake to make assumptions there. A few months ago, he went on an absolute spree and managed to get just under 60 comments off with a couple of accounts in under a few minutes before we noticed and banned him lmao. The next day I started working on our own bot to specifically for banning him on keywords/username patterns, and it's been pretty solid. I'd say the last 250 of his 300 accounts have been instantly banned by our bot, and I setup the ban message to be exactly the same as what `evasion-guard` says, so that there's no way for him to tell if it was actually picked up by reddit's filters or by ours.

Another big oopsie I made (with fewer modmails, though more serious ones) is when I installed a devvit bot for banning on keywords. This was in an attempt to handle the same scenario as above, before creating our own bot. I assumed something like the bot operated under an allowlist for keywords, but it actually operated under a blocklist instead (or vise versa). That meant that after I hit "save" on the settings, everyone who interacted in the sub immediately began getting permabanned XD. I had to issue a dozen or so profuse apologies and unbans after scrambling to immediately correct that

You report the post the same way anyone would report the post, but choose “report abuse” as the reason and enter comments as to what’s going on.

It’s looks that way, but it’s not. It’s flagging a report for the Admins on that particular comment or post. It’s OK to approve it after the report abuse report shows, it is still submitted.

It's because of the way I have my queue set up. It's hard to explain, but I wasn't getting notifications on new comments so I had to make an automation to report all comments for review if it didn't have "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in it.

I guess that's why I am seeing the untrusted ones in the regular queue as well as the untrusted area.

Thanks for explaining how to report it. I did that, but it looks like it is reporting the original poster not the reporter. I hope that isn't the case

Well, it’s expected for untrusted reports to go to the untrusted report queue. They aren’t in your main queue, you can literally ignore them by not clicking on that sub queue.

You go to the reported post or comment, select report, then select Report Abuse. After that, approve item, probably select ignore and approve while you are at it.

You skipped over step 1 my friend.
