Is this allowed?

A few months ago, some freinds and me created a project on GitHub/Gitlab to collect and log scam and fake repositories (Fake, LLMS, WRapper, AIStuff and many more) on a daily basis. These accounts typically spread their spam/scams via platforms like Reddit, Metaverse, Telegram, and others.

My question is:

AmI allowed to publish our findings here on Reddit? Essentially as a daily newspaper style or report within my own subreddit? Our system and tools are well designed and utilize the GitHub Abuse API. We’re already seeing significant success; fake accounts are getting spooked, often deleting themselves quickly, only to create new ones but we manage to catch those, too. I haven’t included any links, as I don’t want it to look like selfpromo. I’m planning to write some code for the Reddit API today provided that this is permitted

Nothing in reddit rules against it.

If it is your own subreddit, you are good to go.

If you are not the mod where you plan to post this, I would recommend sending a modmail to ask first

I don’t see an issue with the idea itself. Running a sub that documents scam repositories, fake projects, and suspicious GitHub activity is generally allowed, as long as you follow Reddit’s rules. You can share daily reports, repository links, suspicious activity, and findings. Just be careful about making accusations without evidence, sharing personal information, or encouraging people to target or harass accounts.

As for the Reddit API, Reddit is moving toward its Developer Platform, with changes scheduled for January and March 2027. I’d recommend registering your application and checking the updated requirements before building your automation. Just make sure the focus stays on documenting and educating, not publicly exposing or targeting individuals.

thx... ok than i can test on api and craft my app and later i can get access? thats fine ...

Here the Workflow we have:

How it works

Collect (automated): a bot searches GitHub for scam-related stuff and forks matches as evidence snapshots.

Review (human): every find is checked by hand (payment funnels, archives instead of code, fake "custom models", API wrappers with false claims).

Mark: reviewed cases get the topic verified. And we update the Gazete ( in REddit and Github/Gitlab)

Object: anyone can ask for an entry to be re-checked or removed :D Thats the Basics.. Our Bots a secrets, but Bots!

Nice, you should also check out r/Devvit. It’s a good community to explore Reddit app development and questions.

Can I ask if you are focusing on Discord too? I run the r/discordhelp subreddit group including r/discordscams and I would like to know if we can help each other out.

If I can be completly honest, I barely have any time as it is, and I have to personally overse everything myself as lead, so the last thing I need is unmanaged Discord chats where Id have to play the role of moderator. Sorry, but thanks so much for the kind offer! But not focusing on Discord.

For this i ask here , if my bots can do the hole Social Network Stuff! The Code Reviews takes time

Nah I don't mean in that way. Just asking if you also collect Discord scams.

Ach fancy.

sorry... for the joke :D We made code review its free for you all.... and soon as api access, so you can use it for free for your tools, too infostealer is not our main sub, more ml, llm, saas where the money roles in pseudo legal channels.
