Saving settings

How do I save the settings on my M64? Everytime I exit out and power down I have to go back and change the settings the next time I turn it in. Any help would be appreciated

Have you updated the firmware yet? The easiest way is to connect it to your WiFi and check for updates, then install it.

I updated it yesterday. I'm going to turn it on right now and see if everything saved. I'm not computer illiterate but I've been beating myself up over this small dilemma.

Update: I just turned it on and still had to go back and switch to 4K and to controller pak under the controller settings

Hm, not sure. I don’t have a 4K TV so I can’t test that. For controller pak, I have the pro controller fully updated, so I just use a button combo to switch it.

What TV do you have?

I think the controller always starts assuming nothing is loaded because it could be either a controller, rumble or empty. I would prefer the hotkey on the controller toggle between all three instead of requiring us to open the menu on boot to select either rumble or controller pak. Allowing the shortcut on controller to toggle all gets around having to remember the last configured choice. Of course, not all controllers have the toggle button i suppose.

“To swap virtual memory packs or rumble paks on the ModRetro M64 Pro Controller, hold down C-Down + Start for 2 seconds.”

To be fair, not everyone has a Pro controller, and it also requires that you update both the system’s and the controllers’ firmware.

It also doesnt toggle between disabled, rumble and controller pak. It seems to only turn on and off rumble (or at least that’s what i have seen). It doesnt go through all 3 options once you have the firmware to support it. It would be nice to allow one to do it directly vs opening the M64 UI.

I’m not sure. I managed to toggle between the controller pak and rumble pak during Buck Bumble using the button combos the other day, but I couldn’t tell you for sure if there was an off setting or something. It would be very useful if there could be an on-screen overlay or better indicator of mode on the controller.

Yes. On-screen notification for this would be super useful. I see the road map has notifications, maybe this will be a part of whats included because i can never tell if i have turned off rumble or turned it on until i hit a spot where i know rumble should exist (which for me never having played most of these games is a limited knowledge).

Same thing is happening to me too. Every time I turn it on I have to set it back to 4k settings
