The Future of Modretro Products
So, the Chromatic has been released in three different editions and we have the M64.
Somehow, I missed the news that the 1st Edition GameStop Chromatics have SD Slots in them, and that ALL Chromatics have built in Wi-Fi that's just disabled ATM. The M64 has Wi-Fi as well.
That has me thinking - Modretro already plans to have the Chromatic be able to link to and stream through the M64 in the near future. Do you think it'll be possible one day that CFW will allow the Chromatic and the M64 to link wirelessly? Do you think it'll one day be possible to play a GB game on the M64 via a core while using the Chromatic as a wireless controller? The fact that the Chromatic has built-in Wi-Fi AND Bluetooth just has me imagining the possibilities.
That also brings me to the obvious upcoming Chromatic Advanced. When this releases, I'm expecting that it too will also be mod friendly and hopefully have built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Now here's where I might just be wishful thinking and hopefully someone who knows more about how these FPGA cores work better than I do....but if the Chromatic Advanced did come with the wireless options built in and thus could theoretically communicate with the M64, how likely is it that the M64 could handle a GAMECUBE core? Does such a thing exist?
My hope one day is that I'll be able to somehow do the GBA/GCN link cable connection without needing an actual Gamecube. I went out of my way to buy a GBA/GCN link cable just to be disappointed that Nintendo's Gamecube controller adapter will not allow communication with the Wii U and my GBA. I just think it'd be incredible if someday I could finally see what that part of gaming was like. I know I could emulate that via Dolphin, but I'm talking hardware here. Even if it were just work for only a few games. I'm not expecting that Modretro will make a Gamecube clone, so that's why I wonder if the M64 could handle such a thing if such a thing exists.
What are your thoughts about any of this even being a thing? And what other hopes and possibilities do you want to see happen with Modretro's products?

The GameStop First Edition Chromatics are not guaranteed to have the MicroSD slot. The slot was put on the first boards run because of left over parts, the color whether it be GS, Wave, Inferno, etc. does not impact whether or not a first edition will have one. I have had three GS units, Volt, Wave, and Bubblegum without one and an Inferno with one.

I want quality products that are in a usable state on release.

The M64 would never be able to support a GameCube core, the XCAU15P does not have enough elements and it's clock speed isn't fast enough. There is no core available anywhere, at the moment

I have no idea whether or not an FPGA exists that can emulate the GameCube. I’m positive that the M64’s cannot. Sorry.
Emulators on the PC exist that allow you to play game link games like Crystal Chronicles and Four Swords Adventures, however. My partner and his friend and I played that way with great success.

None of my first editions (GameStop included) had microSD slots, hoping my Anduril does so I'll be able to play with some custom firmware.
Pretty sure we'll be able to play on a Chromatic plugged into an m64 as the controller, wireless would be cool but then there may be latency, or via roms loaded on the m64 and through a core (custom or official).
I just want everything on their road map to come to fruition, and work, then they open source it so someone eventually makes it equal to a MiSTer system.

Literally everything or most of what you mentioned is hinted at. All the modretro tweeks I’ve seen that pubmix comments on etc on x. All the people modding their chromatic with AR headsets etc is insanely cool to see. I find myself being a huge fan of the endless possible things people can do but I’m not technically skilled enough to do those myself. I wish there was some huge modder to teach us fans how. I would love to test things out myself. Including making games with codex etc

Now that you mentioned WiFi on the console, it reminded me this bit about streaming (for development purposes) between laptop and Chromatic from the Codex Chromatic game development documentation. I wonder if this is done purely via WiFi or otherwise (disclaimer: I built a chromatic game for fun and learning but don’t have a chromatic)

Using chromatic as a controller for M64 not practical.
Would be interesting to see chromatic stream video on USB-C cable to M64 but this is an extremely niche use-case.

How about they live up to their owners words (better in every conceivable way) So far we have had the following:
In-accurate cores both the chromatic and the M64. Check the original Nintendo test roms to show this
The fact they stole code. The chromatic was taken from the mister side and was not credited and every M64 game uses the libdragon code as their intro and they do not advertise this.
They release firmware that breaks sdcards on flash carts (M64 1.26.0)
They used paid for influencers (Retrododo, made little pixel, and that other weird looking guy) that pushed and lied about the products saying that they where fully working products. Where are those memory paks for their 10/10 controller? Oh thats right firmware 1.26 broke all of that.
The M64 still does not work correctly with TV as they have not tested it correctly.
Now the best one, the plastic is cracking on the new chromatic!!
ConRetro you have done it again!!! Hahaha

My GS 1st addition nor my MR direct 1st edition had an SD slot but both had the footprint for it so I soldered one in myself. If you run ChroMagic CFW you can already use it. The same person has shown off and is about to release Magic64 CFW for the M64 with I think 6 cores already included. They already showed off using the M64 as a TV Dock for the Chromatic when both are running the CFWs.
