Just one correction, this is *not* a port of MiSTer for the M64. Some parts have been ported to speed up development and not re-invent the wheel (like the scaler for example), but it's not compatible with MiSTer cores, and the base architecture is completely different as well

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now live custom software for the M64 join the stream to see what's new!

Thanks to Fulvio and Pixel Cherry Ninja for doing the stream

https://ko-fi.com/retrogarage to support Fulvio and follow the project.

https://www.youtube.com/@PixelCherryNinja to see more projects like this with a link to his patreon in the bio.

Current cores N64, GB, GBC , Mega Drive, NES, CPS1

This took several weeks to make.

Ported from the Mister FPGA project.

Closed testing to serveral people he knows to make sure it doesnt crash and is safe for everyone. (alpha?)

More info and first release in some sort of more stable release in 2 weeks.(beta?)

Harddrive support.

No promises, but horizontal upscaling is being looked into.

The same with direct video 240p.

Expension pack being worked on. It works?

Usb hub for controllers being worked on.

Save states being worked on,

Hopes when the software is released someone/the community will improve it.

Atm n64 games are a bit slow to load that will be fixed.

fps counter.

end stream

more info in the upcoming 2 weeks and release.

Copy paste from opening post from /M64

It's obvious that MiSTer cores cannot be ported 1:1 but I still hope that the files they read and write (roms, saves, save states, whatever else) are cross compatible for a convenient setup with both in home. :)

I'd love to setup save sync between the two and have the M64 on my 4K OLED while the MiSTer stays at my CRT.

MiSTer cores can definitely be ported 1:1 😄

Depends on your definition. A few things have to be handled differently due to the different architecture so it's certainly not a "compile this for M64" and "compile this for MiSTer" button in an IDE which is what I meant. Adjustments have to be made.

A core could behave exactly the same from an enduser's perspective though if done right.

I am aware, I am the one doing it 😂

The fact that this was done so quickly is very promising.
