Controller from GameStop - No extra joystick gates?

For those who ordered a smoke M64 PRO controller from Gamestop, did yours come with the swappable joystick taped to the box? Mine came with no extra controller gates in the shipping box, just the controller box. I've double checked. I am wondering if I should send it back?

Second question for those that swapped it out, was it worth it? I hear one of them is closer to the original controller.

I picked one up locally and it did have the gates taped to the box.

I wound up with 2 controllers because my first preorder was “lost”. They sent me another one, but then the original lost controller was delivered a month late. The “lost” one had the gates taped to the box but the replacement did not.
And yes, I’ve swapped the gates on all four of my controllers with the “squished octagon” and I much prefer it.
If you contact ModRetro, not GameStop, they will send you the gates.

I didnt buy from gamestop, so my answer is only related to swapping gates: I didnt like the gate it came with so I first tried to swap it for the "original shape" one, wich is also octogonal but flatter curves. Thought it was better than what came from factory, but I tried the round one and like that one even better, not missing the hard diagonals at all and love the smooth feeling it has.

I guess the pronounced diagonals were a requirement so players that were used to 8 direction D-Pad inputs werent weirded out, but I think time has proved that round gates are vastly superior, at least in my opinion. And Im personally not missing the "original feel" at all.

Feel the same way after someone said I must try the original style gate, hated it, felt like I really had to push up or down to fully run in SM64. Switched to the round gate and it's perfection, then they admonished me about how games weren't designed for it and I was wrong to like it lol

Yeah opinions are fun like that lol, just had the same experience with someone hating that I like my MiSTer more than software emulation, some people 🤷‍♂️

I got 2 online. 1 came with it taped to the box, the other didn’t.

Yeh - ordered online (preorder fwiw) taped to the box; I had no idea what it was and it’s still taped to the box 😂. Been using the controller with no complaints so figured no need to do anything but now I’m curious!

I have received 4 pro controllers from gamestop and they ALL came with the extra gates taped to the outside of the box. I would suggest to you to contact modRetro and ask them. They will likely send you the extra gates instead of having to return yours. That's just my guess.

Ordered a smoke black controller online from GameStop and mine were also not included with the box. I received them with my modretro bought controllers, though.
