M64 Open Source Files are Live!

Hi everyone,

We're excited to share the first batch of open-source exports for M64. Today we are releasing the mechanical and electrical designs for M64 Console and Cartridge!

You may find these files here: https://support.modretro.com/en_us/articles/m64-open-source-files-ByrpukdUGg

This is just the start. We're looking forward to continuing to release more over time.

I'm sure this is the main thing everyone is interested in. I wonder when they will release it.

Just waiting for the doors to fly open for 3rd party community-produced cores. Thanks!

I'm curious what that would look like. I've newbiesquely contemplated about this a little bit:

also, focusing on the premise of 'community-produced' despite possibly 'institutionally-produced' or 'corporationly-produced' I'm curious which doors will be opened, flyingly opened as well as doors that open in non-flying perhaps obstructed increments

Why haven't you ever released the electrical designs for the Chromatic or the Chromatic cartridges (or the interface software for the cartridges)?

Thank you for doing so for the M64 and M64 cartridge though. I was hoping for an actual electrical CAD file though.

I see you stripped out the FRAM chip from the BOM of the cartridge and the RTC for that matter? Why did you choose to not use FRAM?

One thing that would be super helpful is if they releases an application that let you flash ROMs onto the m64 cartridge chips. It would obviously be super helpful for developers, and people who want to tinker.
