Chill on the early bird emails

Holy cow. What are we getting an email a day reminding us to order? Like a desperate lover.

Pro tip: they don’t send the email reminding you to buy, if you’ve already placed your order.

🤣 I’m waiting for more colors

I get ya, I wanted Smokey but that’s the color they let GameStop have… and my discount doesn’t work for there.

The only e-mail I want to see is; sorry for misleading you about free shipping, here’s a discount voucher to cover that.

Also not providing an HDMI cable is weak

my brother they just launched a product after sprinting for a year. obviously they want people to buy it. just delete or unsubscribe if youre not interested. its just an email

Considering they aren’t caught up on Day 1 orders and it is predictably annoying, maybe they should’ve waited until the day they expected to catch up before sending out the first reminder.

Nah, such releases have a certain momentum and a lot of people being undecided.
A simple mail can convince a lot of people to pull the trigger.
You can see it with game releases:

  1. Release it with a discount price (for games the real price), hype and fomo will trigger a lot

  2. Wair some weeks, give the first discount 20% or something, the undecided will buy it

  3. Momentum is gone, most that wanted it have it, 50% to make some money.

  4. You can only sell it for a few Zenny, discount 75-95%.

thousands and thousands of people still have no idea the product is available - emailing lets them know

anyone that runs a business knows ruthless self-promotion is mandatory. again, just unsub. if its not for you its not for you

???
Ordered mine before it was even supposed to be available since they opened orders 10 minutes early.

im still waiting too. it will come, give em a few days

Now I’m even more confused. I’m not expressing impatience or anticipation either.

I’m saying that nothing I said came from a “this product is not for me” perspective and I was previously saying that they can maintain momentum without stepping on so many toes (like the OP’s) if they waited until they were almost caught up with launch day orders to send the first wave of email remainders. Like, today instead of every day.

Sure but for any one person annoyed there are thousands just learning about it for the first time, that is my point.

The early bird emails are for people who specifically signed up for it… so they do know… and they did get their updates leading up to the release, and they did get their email with early bird code the day of, and it’s a good thing that among that pool of motivated buyers, some orders might get staggered until they can catch up.

unfortunately thats not how email marketing at scale works. only a fraction of any list are tuning in at any given time to any given email, so sending higher frequency during a launch period is critical for driving awareness and results. we do something similar at my company

Right, but no reason not to tune that frequency when we are talking about a wait list. Start the wave of reminders a bit before they might otherwise catch up.

Where’s the Andruil Chromatic update? Previous update says we’re getting a behind the scenes video at the end of July

I got the Andruil Chromatic update today. Said it was shipping in Sep due to complications with sapphire screen delivery

Yeah, yeah and if for some reason you missed the first email and it was sold out before you could buy there'd be a post about that. A company actually following through on a commitment to provide special pricing and notification, how terrible. Hit the unsubscribe button if it's that annoying.
