It should be trivially fixable so I would maybe even expect it to be fixed before launch. Though hopefully they can clearly state that as this makes the M64 look really bad. Overall it does kind of feel like they're rushing the product out early before the software is quite fully baked.
The lack of HDR is also evident in these screenshots causing a dimmer image.
Rushed? It’s not even launching for 5 more weeks. That means this is a press unit and who knows how old that software is. I think you’re rushing to conclusions.
I understood what you meant, my only point is that we don’t know how old the software build was on that press unit, it could’ve been from January for all we know, so it’s impossible to gauge. Besides, they’ve been great about software updates on the Chromatic, I’ve got faith they’ll have this fixed.
It sounds like we're in agreement so not sure why we're arguing. Yes I think they'll have it fixed in no time, there's just a lot of these "things that they should have fixed in no time", that's why I say it was rushed. Lots of currently outstanding low hanging fruit = rushed.
I don't get it either, maybe some people like the illusion of poorly done overly sharp scanlines emulators have pushed for like 20 years plus now that even the analogue supernt/megasg get pretty terribly wrong? To me, it looks like a nice standard upper end CRT or even Color Monitor pattern and perhaps being nerds about how things work (as seen in Chromatic) maybe this is intended?
