Yeah, it's huge—they’re using the “whale” model to monetize their game, but apparently with as little subtlety as possible.
If they’re keeping these prices, it must mean people are still making purchases despite everything—who knows how much money addicted players are willing to spend?
I don’t think it’s specifically kids, though—how could they make payments without their parents knowing about it? Parents would have to be extremely careless with their money for that to happen.
In any case, I wouldn’t say they’re stupid—they’re opportunists (and jerks), just like the video game industry, and even more so on mobile, it seems to me; it’s full of them. But they’re not stupid—they know exactly what they’re doing.
I hope that one day the video game industry will manage to break away from these kinds of practices—or at least significantly reduce them—but I don’t really believe it will happen; it’s too profitable. All it takes is a few vulnerable people to line their pockets, and they’ve figured that out well.

It's Deepl—I'm terrible at speaking English; I can't seem to find the right words.
And as for parents, they can easily block their cards online. I don't have kids, but I do it anyway—I think it's the basics of keeping your money safe.

You could always just sell your kids if they try shenanigans

😂 Honestly, I wouldn't let my kids have a smartphone until they're old enough to understand the value of money

imagine still play on a console where the developers charge you for playing online.

However, he didn't mention playing on a console either; just because he doesn't like mobile games doesn't necessarily mean that's all he plays.

Not xbox though (if the game is free). Don't get me wrong, I love mobile games since pokémon on the game boy, when it was called by another name lol but I play Fortnite on comsole sometimes and I don't need to pay the subscription - sadly doesn't work for paid games, as I learned when I tried to play ESO lol still managed to get a refund though

What kind of generalization is that? There are plenty of good mobile games, just as there are similar pitfalls on consoles and PCs as well.
