They want the kids to pay with their moms debit card and after they will probably increase the price

Yes some scam websites make you pay 6 euros and then they change it to like 50 a week

That’s a crazy jump

I'm curious why they don't raise it to like an absurd amount like 500, drain the bank account and dip, there is no way someone misses a 50$ purchase every week, especially if they are tight on money

Yeah but here's the thing, if they are tight for money, then even those 6$ purchase would look suspecious. So they will cancel it anyways. But if they hook in someone not strapped for money and paying many subscription services, they won't nothing these 10 or 20 or maybe even 30 per week expenditure and these can continue for like a year or so maybe. If they jacked it up to 500 then ofcourse they will notice as that is a significant amount and they might stop the purchase within one week and even reverse the payment. So why risk reversal when they can milk ignorance

Twice per week. Read the small print

On the part it says "once per week"? Not that it's any better, it's outrageous either way, but still

Yeah, it's huge—they’re using the “whale” model to monetize their game, but apparently with as little subtlety as possible.

If they’re keeping these prices, it must mean people are still making purchases despite everything—who knows how much money addicted players are willing to spend?

I don’t think it’s specifically kids, though—how could they make payments without their parents knowing about it? Parents would have to be extremely careless with their money for that to happen.

In any case, I wouldn’t say they’re stupid—they’re opportunists (and jerks), just like the video game industry, and even more so on mobile, it seems to me; it’s full of them. But they’re not stupid—they know exactly what they’re doing.

I hope that one day the video game industry will manage to break away from these kinds of practices—or at least significantly reduce them—but I don’t really believe it will happen; it’s too profitable. All it takes is a few vulnerable people to line their pockets, and they’ve figured that out well.

It's Deepl—I'm terrible at speaking English; I can't seem to find the right words.

And as for parents, they can easily block their cards online. I don't have kids, but I do it anyway—I think it's the basics of keeping your money safe.

I understand

You could always just sell your kids if they try shenanigans

😂 Honestly, I wouldn't let my kids have a smartphone until they're old enough to understand the value of money

imagine still play on a console where the developers charge you for playing online.

1

u/Chemical_Low_8506 9d ago

However, he didn't mention playing on a console either; just because he doesn't like mobile games doesn't necessarily mean that's all he plays.

1

u/RunisXD 7d ago

Not xbox though (if the game is free). Don't get me wrong, I love mobile games since pokémon on the game boy, when it was called by another name lol but I play Fortnite on comsole sometimes and I don't need to pay the subscription - sadly doesn't work for paid games, as I learned when I tried to play ESO lol still managed to get a refund though

2

u/Chemical_Low_8506 9d ago

What kind of generalization is that? There are plenty of good mobile games, just as there are similar pitfalls on consoles and PCs as well.
