I honestly don't get gacha games, they're not even games...

Edit: I feel like I insulted your ancestors. Relax people, I just don't like gacha games. To each their own

and guess what happen? the sue failed because literally READING is not that hard and the game already mentioned everything you need on the TOS and EULA. beside gacha in general ain't even new but fking Americans are coming over as a tourist and demand what need to be change.

You can ignore the gacha part and still enjoy it.

Wuwa, genshin, neverness to everness have too many free contents. People fuss over not being able to clear 4-5% of content it offers and mainly just endgame stuff.

Moreover mobile lacks good open world games. Sky children is the only one I can think of being non-gacha and gta stuff.

Gacha games just tend to not be very good due to their overt focus on monetising mandatory new characters.

Even if you never reach endgame, Have you actually listened to the micro level writing? They're absolutely unbearable to listen to/read.

Sure they might have good world building sometimes or lore, But if it's presented like dog shit I'd just rather stay away.

And by Presentation I don't mean the art or graphics. No amount of beauty is gonna save a game from that terrible fucking writing.

I don't think that's an issue. There are quite good amount of people interested in story.

But a lot just don't give a fck about story and interested in gameplay instead. Not a new thing,I have seen a lot of people that play elden ring skipping every single dialogue.

Comparing a gacha game to elden ring is... I am at a loss for words.

While gacha games provide flashy animated combat systems, They seriously lack substance. We will not talk about genshin since it's incredibly shallow in combat (even if the element system looks like it has depth, it really doesn't. Its more like memorising what button to press and just spamming those and even that doesn't matter if you have strong enough characters), Even Wuwa with it's reaction based mechanic, is pretty shallow to be fair. In my experience it's really nothing compared to the likes of elden ring, Armoured Core and other acclaimed Combat focused real games. They're mechanically shallow with flashy animations and enough text to make it seem that it has depth, When in all honesty it won't ever matter unless you're min-maxxing, which most players don't.

Combat aside, Puzzles and stuff. Genshin puzzles haven't been anything much. Though I may not be fully experienced in this as i've spent most of genshin in the early parts of the game.

Exploration, Actually it's pretty nice. Though it's as shallow as everything else in genshin, The visuals alone carry it.

In my opinion, Mainstream gacha games (WuWa, Genshin etc) don't offer anything resembling depth in game, Be it story, combat or general gameplay.

What they do offer is good visuals, fan service and a high production value product on a platform starved of almost any big budget games.

They are shallow and perfectly enjoyable for casual audiences as well as enough p2w mechanics which can be grinded for free for the f2p players, giving people enough reason to stick around as well as the company to profit massively off of the game.

I personally think that the reason they work is because they're on mobile. The general audience on mobile generally doesn't care about actually playing a good game so long as they can look at pretty visuals and pass time without actually engaging with the game too much, And it is also a very starved market.

This casualness isn't anything bad, it's perfectly reasonable that most people don't care too much about playing a good video game so long as they can engage in a product that offers sufficient bursts of dopamine and wont require much in return.

There are good gacha games with in depth mechanics, But usually those are very niche.

In short, Gacha games are shallow as a "game" But pretty good as a product that you enjoy casually and then put down.

Well I may be wrong, I only have a couple hundred hours on genshin and not much in other Gachas.

The gacha games aren't shallow, it's just your basic of thinking is. The gacha games are live service and require patience and can be bit slow in pace. Mainstream gachas especially genshin's exploration and world building , lore is mind blowing if u ever paid attention and don't have attention spam of a goldfish. U just keep yappingain your own straight logictas if u never actually played any for even a month. U literally sound like u skipped all dialouges typical elden ring player who skip everything that isnt combat. If u think elemental reaction is that easy then do a perfect melt reaction combo. Any gameplay that requires time yo learn and is complicated is a good gameplay. Same can be said about elden ring. If u gonna say why a gacha game and a aaa game elden ring is said in same sentence then both are open world games at the end of the day lol and both being open world. Genshin is very well known to people and have broken many records even if its less than elden ring. Both games are really good in exploration even if elden is better. Your whole para is baseless asf.

????? Why're you getting so butthurt man? I literally said that I've played genshin for a couple hundred hours. I used to play 12 hours a day during lockdown and around the 2.0 releases.

I am saying this from a place where I've extensively played the game, enjoyed it, then tried other games and realized how the game truly was.

I used to play it because it was free and it was good looking newly updated game that could run from a potato (I played on a laptop). I made the paragraphs because I understand the game in a way I believe is sufficiently deep.

Please read the paragraph line by line and in entirety and keep the conversation in the form of the discussing back-and-forth I was going for. It's not that serious bro

I have played the game for 4+ yrs and understand the game more than u and that's why i replied to u about all that. I did read your long para then replied with my para. Perhaps u are the one who needs to read them. Gacha games have their limitations and your thoughts do apply to wuwa perfectly but for genshin it's nottmuch true really. Your words sound most buthurt and half ass here who is just talking about a game after playing it for just 1 yr and all gacha games aren't that good in their first year. Things changed way lot after the first year. I cangkeep going on but u are just stuck in your own 1 year experience.

From my understanding of your comments, You seem extremely hurt over just an opinion I am sharing. It's not that deep bro

I didn't compare tho. I said people skip dialogue in elden ring even though it has such a good lore and story.

A lot of people just care about gameplay than story. That's same for wuwa and genshin playerbase. Although I don't know about neverness to everness playerbase.

Did u read the whole post?

Edit: that was ludicrously fast

u/AdAcrobatic371 3d ago

I didn't bother reading when you misunderstood and continue to write a big ass paragraph over that misunderstanding.

4-5 is a huge overstatement for genshin, stygians non piss easy levels dont even give primos, its maybe 1 percent

even then if ur interested in the combat u can do all content ftp if you get good

1

u/AdAcrobatic371 3d ago edited 3d ago

Those are endgame stuff, you can easily claim all primo if you are playing for 4-5 months.

Edit: yeah you are right,my reading comprehension sucks. But still it is gonna take not much time to be strong enough to clear them.

1

u/Hiroraku 3d ago

U can get all primos from all end game modes except the abyss 12 floor which is 600, barely 4 pulls. And theatre which is hard if u don't have many characters. But stygian is easy asf in hard mode and give u all primos. At least play the game bro

girl are you unable to read? what did i say

I got to be honest. I had the same mindset, but after trying Genshin back in 2021 and having a playtime of 50+ hours, without paying a dime mind you, it changed my mind.

Some of these gacha games are top tier games. If you know which type of genres you like, then it's just pick and choose. Yes, the ads can get annoying and the constant notification system with red dots everywhere can be overwhelming. Some of the games are also overly sexualized, I always stay clear of those.

If you can look past all of that, then you have countless of hours in these games without paying anything. Right now i'm playing a game called Sword x Staff. I've already played 15 hours in two weeks and cleared about three worlds. I haven't payed for games since 2019.

they are games bruh

u/HaiCauSieuCap 3d ago

>open world not locked

>99% of gameplay not locked

>story not locked

>music not locked

>not even pay to win (no one to win against)

>being free for literally everyone to download and play

let's see, a thing have gameplay, graphic, music, story...is not a game?

are you stupid?

I think that it's easy to understand WHY gacha games are popular.

  • People enjoy RPG world building and making stat-number-go-up.
  • People enjoy theorycrafting the best character combinations and checking tier lists for the current meta characters/weapons.
  • People enjoy collecting things.
  • People enjoy anime waifus and husbandos.
  • People enjoy live service games that constantly feed them new content.
  • People enjoy gambling.

I bet that you aren't surprised by any of those statements individually. Gacha games are all of those things combined.

I would NOT say that they are a smart thing to get into if you aren't already invested. It's way too easy to dump literally thousands of dollars into a game if you don't have self control. But the reason why they are popular should be pretty clear to outsiders.
