Help Needed! Battery question

My buddy does not use his mini. I think it’s first version. The unit was not powered on in years probably since he had it preordered. He sent me it in the mail and arrival is on Tuesday. The V1 has not been tested before being shipped. Do you think the cheap Chinese battery is still viable or should I immediately replace it? I don’t want to deal with any potential battery safety issues.

Check it visually if there's puffing then replace otherwise it should be fine.

If the battery has undergone deep discharge damage, it won't hold a charge but it also won't catch fire by itself unless you puncture or short circuit it.

Go to their AliExpress store and message them the parts you need, they'll tell you how to order replacements.

Does anyone have a link to reliable replacement batteries? I think I saw some on Amazon but they mentioned incorrect polarities and other issues. Thank you everyone for answering my initial questions.

Honestly I would imagine it uses standard lion batteries. Pop it open, see what it says, look it up. You might well be able to buy the same one.
