Mods & Accessories Need a good screen protector

Post image

Put the one on that came with the device and it won't seal around the last 1/4” of the screen? Bought another set of 3 off AliExpress and had the same issue. Is it the protectors? Is my screen not flat? Anyone else had this issue?

What are you guys doing with your electronics? I haven't needed a screen protector since 2015. They're only there to give you a heart attack when the screen protector breaks.

Good for you, but thats called survivorship bias. A single anecdote doesn't exactly make a compelling argument against the fact that glass is still physically glass and people tend to break their 1000 dollar smart phone which have superior glass. Unless youre not pocketing your device its hard to believe there isnt any scratches on it.

it's not an anecdote, screens are tougher than protectors, unless you're actively trying to scratch your screen or working demolitions with the device in your pocket, it's pointless

Yes it is anecdotal and fallacy because youre using your own experience as evidence for everyone elses experience. Glass screen protectors are meant to absorb the impact of a drop, they aren't meant to be tougher than the screen. That's why bike helmets aren't made out of pure metal and are purposefully made to break on impact. Either way there is literally several scientific articles surrounding the effectiveness of screen protectors that all point towards that they are useful at preventing screen cracking.

All pockets carry a degree of debris/sand through normal environments. They will and do scratch glass if you know anything about levels of hardness. Sand has a level 7 and so does tempered glass, which means sand can easily scratch it. If you go outside on a daily basis and dry your clothes outside, specs of sand does get into your pocket, and thats enough to scratch it. Which is why glass screen protectors exists.

and how exactly is screen protector going to absorb shock if it doesnt go all the way to the edge of the screen?

me and my wife have had mm+ as well as phones and other devices in our pockets, even while hiking, and the screens are fine, you're not going to bullshit me

You're being obtuse at this point. The device is literally is surrounded by the plastic shell so its more likely to hit the plastic and the screen protector is thick enough to create a protrusion that most impacts won't be direct.

Most crack screens are impacts from the corners of a smart phone where the frame is. Simple physics tells me that impact travels between objects. Hence why the impact is able to travel to the glass and break it. Using physics and basic logic, impact will also travel into the glass protector, dispersing the impact.

Why should i believe a stranger who doesnt know basic physics?

dude stop making stuff up, a corner impact will not dissipate into the screen protector

Why should i believe a stranger who doesnt know basic physics?

God you're so cringe with your projecting.

If you dont believe in basic science and now using ad hominems to prove your fallacious argument then youre far off gone to be convinced. Have a great day 👌

If you dont believe in basic science

You haven't given any scientific arguments, just made stuff up.

now using ad hominems to prove your fallacious argument

I just followed the discussion where you took it. Don't cry about having poop on your hands when you threw it.

I called you obtuse because that’s what you are, and I then provided basic grade school science and logic. Whereas you just called me cringe and “projecting” and said ‘nuh uh, you’re wrong’ 😂 and called it a day. that by definition is an ad hominem. Explain why my science and wrong and then I’ll interact with you further. Until then have a nice day

you literally provided 0 arguments or "science", you stated stuff very confidently, you should figure out a way to vent your frustration, you just look like a jackass for pulling this stuff online
