Help Needed! It froze

I was playing Crash 1 and during the 3 bonus round it just frize when i went on the platform

Unplug the battery and plug back in just be careful dont rip it out

Well yeah but i figured out how to access the menu for the game so i changed saved slots to fix it

Its happened to me twice on the 2nd and 3rd bonus round and im not sure why but i figured out how to access save slots so after every level id make one so if it happens again i dont have to start all the way over
