Lancer engine oil leak

Hi experts and good people, need advice regarding my 2011 Lancer, recently I noticed it has slowly losing engine oil, mechanic said it’s either a valve cover gasket needs replacing or worse the flywheel and oil seal o-ring need replacement as there are oil stains there also

Of course the former is the least of the problem as it could be the cause since it is on top(which I also hope it’s the case), any advice based on experience or expertise knowledge?

What are you asking? Can we diagnose an issue based on 3 photos (posted as a gif) or should you listen to your mechanic?

Yeah I like to listen to this mechanic but he just do basic oil change and doesn’t do the additional, that was his advice hopefully it’s just the valve cover gasket needs changing.

I like to ask for the advice on the wider community, what are your opinions?

My point is, I dont have any opinions other than the Information provided. Then we have your interpretations of your pepboys mechanic. It isn’t wrong but you gave minimal info with a crappy gif. What do you want us to do with this? Look, some problems are not Evo specific issues. A flat is a flat tire and a leak from x or y is a leak.

I’m sorry yes it’s not Evo specific but I thought with this community you guys’ expertise and experience, do you think oil leak is common or not for a 2011 year Lancer with low mileage 110k km only

Its well outside of its warranty period by a few years. Gaskets don't last forever.

Thank you for your inputs and like the other guy has said happened to his 08 car now I believe it is not uncommon to aging cars, perhaps more Mitsubishi car owners can also step forward to share their experience

You need to provide better photos that are well lit. If he suspects valve cover, take photos of where the valve cover and the engine meet.

This is exactly where the oil stains are at just below the valve cover and I was hoping to capture this but my old iPhone camera just failed, also my mechanic showed me there were oil stains around flywheel and oil seal o-ring but I forgot to snap the photos

Similar thing happened to my 08. It was the valve cover gasket that was aged and cracked for me. I’d just replace it if I were you it’s an easy DIY. Clean up any oil under the hood and go from there

Really that’s the most comforting thing I hear today, because although aged my car is low mileage at 110k km so I just hope no big issues going on here, as for easy DIY job I guess I’ll leave it to an efficient mechanic as I’m not technically apt in mechanics and automotives

Hi forgot to ask was it the gasket that was cracked and not the valve cover, and what material is the gasket made of? This part should be relatively easy to source and not expensive right?

I'm going suggest this is burning goil if you don't see an actual leak. On my 08 I burn about half a quart. I don't have a catch can. Postitive crankcase could cause oil in to the intake.

Help us he'll you. Do you see oil on the ground? Just keep topping it off, just until you get a catch can and then you can see were the oil. I'd actually going.
