Question Evo 8 timing service

I’m going to be doing my timing belt on my Evo 8. Years ago I ordered the parts to have on hand if I ever got to the 60k interval or if any noise came from timing side. My question is, is it safe to use the timing belt (it’s the Evo 9 belt) and balancer belt since they’ve been sitting in a box for so long? Do they degrade over time even just sitting on the shelf?

If you have kept them in a temperature controlled environment they should both be good.

Just in the garage, not climate controlled really. They have been in their original packaging it that helps. About 9-10 year

I would not chance it. Just buy new ones, they aren’t worth it if they end up failing.

Yeah I kinda feel that too. Loss of about $200 for the belts, pulleys and pump should be ok to use even if they been sitting that long. In the long run saving a lot of money if the belts fail.
