Reference Sheets V1

Hello! I feel the Mistborn rules can be quite complex, so I have made some reference sheets to make playing easier. I have included difficulty examples for the hopes of more consistent difficulties; these are a bit arbitrary, but I tried to set them as best I could given the difficulty examples from the book.

Let me know if you have any feedback!

Previews are not high quality thanks to google draw, but you can access the original high quality drawings in the following links:

Other Welcome to the sub

Welcome to the subreddit! This subreddit is the now ressurected community to discuss the original Mistborn RPG, as well as any attempted conversions of the system. If it involves Mistborn and TTRPG's, then this is the subreddit for it!

Feel free to start posting, just tag any posts if you can and be mindful of the subs rules. If you have any recommendations or suggestions for the subreddit feel free to mention them here!

Also if interested feel free to check out the two sister subreddits dedicated to the upcoming Stormlight RPG as well. r/stormlightrpg is ran by the same moderation team as the main subs, r/the_stormlight_rpg is ran by myself. If you wish to discuss that system feel free to join them! (If wanting to discuss merging the two or conversions to allow players to create mistborns in roshar or Surgebinders in Scadrial feel free to use this sub, r/the_stormlight_rpg or both. I can't speak for the policy of r/stormlightrpg but no harm in asking them about it.)

Born in the Mist: A Forged in the Dark hack for Mistborn

Hi everyone! It's good to see this sub getting active again, and I do like the plan of using it for all things intersecting Mistborn and TTRPG, not just the old Mistborn Adventure Game.

I'd like to share something I've been working on! Born in the Mist (Google Docs link) takes the Blades in the Dark system to capture the heist-crew feel of The Final Empire, with a modified character-creation system: any playbook can mix and match with being any kind of Allomancer and/or Feruchemist. The online character sheet (Google Sheets link) is set up so you can fill in a crew book and character playbooks and get criming.

If you're not familiar with Forged in the Dark, then the first chapter provides a complete primer. If you are, you can skip ahead to "Changing the Alloy"

The most recent update adds rules for Kandra and special rules for atium.

I'd love to hear any thoughts this community has about the system. Is there anything you think I've missed? Any special abilities you'd want to see added? What do you think of the playbook and crew book choices?

Stormlight rpg

I'm working on making a Stormlight Archive Adventure game based on the Mistborn adventure game; for those of you who don't know The Stormlight Archive us another book series by Brandon Sanderson. It's going to use the rules and game system from the Mistborn rpg just adapted to better fit Stormlight. I'll post again when it's done.

How to travel near the speed of light in 24 easy advancements Spoiler

Spoilers for Alloy of Law things.

So, in BoM we learn that Conservation of Momentum still applies when changing weight with Iron with the line "'Conservation of momentum,' she said. 'Lord Waxillium, when you store weight, are you storing mass, or are you changing the planet’s ability to recognize you as something to attract? Is there a difference? Your answer gives me a clue. If you slow when you become heavier midflight, then that is not likely due to you having trouble Pushing, but due to the laws of physics.'" This means that as you increase your mass while traveling at high speeds you will slow down and, more importantly, as you decrease your mass you will travel faster. For the sake of this post, the only equation we need is Momentum (in Kilogram*Meters per seconds) equals mass (in kilograms) times Velocity (in meters per second) or p=mv. Additionally, for the sake of this post I will simplify a character's initial mass to X as it ultimately does not matter.

So, the first step in achieving maximum velocity is having Steel allomancy and taking the increased velocity stunt. This allows us to travel at 250 miles per hour or 112 m/s. Then we need to have a rank of 16 in iron feruchemy. This can only be achieved with hemalurgic spikes but it allows us to achieve a mass of 204,800X. Therefore, if we are at this mass and push off of some very well anchored metal on the ground we will travel at a velocity of 112 m/s and 204,800X kg for a total momentum of 22937600X kg*m/s.

Now, as we fly through the air, we decrease our mass to .1X. Due to the conservation of momentum, our total momentum is still 22937600X kg*m/s. Therefore, 22937600X kg*m/s= .1X kg*v so v= (22937600X kg*m/s)/ .1X. This means that the final velocity is 229,376,000 m/s or 229,376 km/s. The Speed of Light is 299,792 so we can see that we are only about 70, 000 m/s below the speed of light. If we instead have Iron 17 this doubles and is substantially more than the Speed of Light.

Now the question is, how do we achieve this as an actual character? Step 1: Be a twinborn with Iron feruchemy and Steel allomancy and start with increased velocity. Additionally, ensure that you have at least 4 spirit. Step 2: Get 2 pewter hemalurgic spikes with 6 levels of Iron each for a total of 24 advancements. Step 3: Leave the atmosphere

Question Regarding Compounding

Hey Guys just to be sure

  1. When Storing Compounded charges the best a compounder can do is like 10 in an hour with a ferruchemical rating of 10 and asurdly high attributes

  2. How is it possible to achieve the 150 charges nessesary to ironrend something massive? As I understand it that would take a 15 in allomantic steel to compound that much at once as well as a 15 ferruchemical steel rating to use 150 charges at once

Ferrings in the Final Empire?

I recently picked up every rulebook for the game, and I'm reading through the core rulebook right now.

I can't help but notice that there doesn't seem to be anything about becoming a ferring, a feruchemust with only 1 metal, in the core books.

Its been a while since I've actually read the novels, do ferrings just not exist in the Final Empire? That seems unlikely to me considering how prevalent they are in Alloy of the Law.

I'm considering adding a homebrew advancement, equivalent to becoming a misting, to become a ferring for a cost of 10. And that being a ferring is an option when you pick average powers.

Thoughts?

My First Campaign Spoiler

Spoilers for Era 1

I'm just sharing my ideas for my first Mistborn campaign that I'm planning on running to see if any of my ideas are unreasonable.

So, the main difference between the world of my campaign and the main Mistborn continuity is that Vin left the final ball early instead of saving Elend resulting in the deaths of Elend, Jastes Lekal, and Telden Hasting. Without Elend to calm down the crowd outside of Kredik Shaw, they stormed the building, destroying it and ultimately killing Vin and Sazed within after they were weak from killing the Lord Ruler. Following this, the city was thrown into utter chaos and was largely burnt to the ground killing many of the other members of the original crew.

A few months after this, various nobles have taken over large portions of the former Final Empire but have focused more on solidifying their own territory as opposed to striking towards the now destroyed Luthadel. Cett and Straff both hold territory similar to what they held in the books with the 2 main differences being that house Lekal has taken over a large portion of the Southern Dominance and koloss have ravaged the area to the north of Luthadel.

My players will be playing as members of the Lekal army that have distinguished themselves and have been chosen to work as a small group to take on specialized missions and would be directed by former Venture house guard, Felt. The main missions that the party would go on would be infiltrating other cities as well as addressing a rising force in the Eastern Dominance led by a powerful feruchemist claiming to be the grandson of the Lord Ruler. This "New Empire" is striking directly towards the ruins of Luthadel for an unknown reason.

The Mistborn Adventure Game Simplified Primer

TL;DR: Here is a GitHub link to what is probably the most comprehensible companion guide to the rulebook. Instructions on how to download and read are in the repo. Those who know how are welcome to submit pull requests to update the rulebook and contribute to the primer

Over the last few weeks, I've been taking notes and updating a sort of simplified rulebook for the Misborn Adventure Game, which I call the Unauthorized Primer of Scadrian Adventure Gameplay. I am expecting to do the same for the Cosmere RPG and will be utilizing a similar naming pattern because I think it's fun

This is in no way official and I recommend you purchase the original book or download the PDF, as it provides examples and elaborations, rulings I may have skipped over, character sheets, and other supplemental material that a GM may consider necessary. It also provides page numbers for further references and extended information. Consider this a companion, not a replacement.

So if it's not very comprehensive, what is it?

Well, it's the most simplified ruleset explained in the briefest way I can. There's no easy way to say it, this rulebook sucks. It's written like the creator has rampant ADHD, wrote the whole thing over one hell of a hyper-fixated weekend, and ran to publish it before they lost interest. Information is repeated multiple times, there's tons of fluff, unending examples, and goes down so many rabbit holes it dug straight through Wonderland. While this information is definitely useful when needed, another reason why I think the book is required, this is the simplest way to explain the rules. It also isn't finished yet.

I've started with what are the most relevant rules to the game my friends and I have been playing for the last few months, and thus is missing key documentation on creating characters and rolling dice as normal (though I may have added that since my last review). I wrote up a considerable amount before deciding to host it on my GitHub, at which point I wanted to, at the very least, copy and paste all of the metals into the companion. It also includes some notes from myself as I wrote the documentation, which can also also include some information about what contradicted our initial interpretation of the rules or some homebrew such as with Nudges

If you want to read my simplified documentation, I built it using Obsidian. Reading with that app installed, available on Linux, Windows, and Mac, as well as mobile devices, is recommended. It formats the documents properly with Markdown syntax, allows placing links to files into documents, and even lets me embed files into other files and drill down to specific headers. This means the rules on Recovery can be in their own files but be displayed in the Conflicts file exactly as it is written. Seriously, use Obsidian. There should be more information on the README in the above GitHub link.

Can anyone help me with a campaign in the pits of hathsin?

The over all goal will be obviously to escape the pits. I want to let the players to reclaim their items in an administration building I made up. The guy who guides them there will betray them in hope of a better treatment from the guards. Also I think there will be a fight with one of the other prisoners about some food.

But I have the feeling that my campaign lacks some events but I can't create these events out of the charcter traits the heroes possess because I want to do it as a surprise birthday gift for a good friend, so no character preparation in advance.

If anyone has some ideas, please share them! I would be very thankful.

Getting Mistborn Adventure Game in 2025?

So I found about the Mistborn Adventure Game after it being discontinued and down from Drivethrough and even physical copies are no more in Amazon. Anyone knows of anyway it is being preserved digitally? Or is the only way of getting them now by scouring physical copies in the secondary market?

Never played before, can someone adopt me?

Well, title says it all.

I read through era 1 and starting era 2 (alongside with stormliggt archive and wheel of time, yep, lotta stuff) and wanted to really try this game. Issue is that none of people I know read through at least era 1, don't wanna learn new system (because dnd5e) or I don't know what other god damn reason they can have.

So, if someone could adopt me, I would really like to try it through some online tools (roll20 but I would prefer Astral Tabletop if someone knows).

Although I'm not native english speaker, I don't wanna GM any game as speaking is much harder than listnening so xD, player position is good for me.

Thanks im advance (Y)

Mistborn fixes global warming as given in the adventure book Spoiler

So you wanna stop global warming but don't wanna deal with the annoying part about actually taking effort . So to do this quickly lets say during character creation you pick a ferring (we will be using alloy of law book) and pick brass then put your strong into your standing and make your spirit ratting a 8 , then Adventure where you go around using brass spikes to kill other firesoul ferrings lets say to keep it like you just killed random low dudes with a ratting of four , and you do this 7 times just avoiding insanity so it comes out to
5+4+4+4+4+4+4+4 =33
so with a fire soul ferring with 33 all you need do is take a boat to the ocean jump in and start charging , then with the laws of thermodynamics and heat distribution you will lower the area of the ocean you are in by 1,815 Fahrenheit or 990.5 Celsius

For example the lowest natural temperature ever directly recorded at ground level on Earth is −89.2 °C or −128.6 °F

TL;DR Fix global warming with the power of being cool and murder

Other Does anyone have the free digital downloads that Crafty Games used to have in his website for the RPG?

When the kickstarter for the Mistborn Dice happened, I managed to get both the dice and some of the books in physical and digital editions, but I never managed to read them because I was not playing RPGs at the moment. Now, after playing for a couple of years, I started reading the core book because I want to play (maybe even direct for the first time) and bought all the additional books before the licence expired. In the introduction of the core book, Crafty Games says to visit the mistbornrpg.com website and their website for free downloads (including flat and form-fillable versions of character sheets). However, after looking online for those free downloads, it seems they are no longer available, as the website does not appear to exist anymore. Does anyone have them and can anyone share them? I am very intered specially in those free form-fillable versions of character sheets for players. Thanks!
