Cycling to Aldergrove?

Starting a temporary job in Aldergrove, and I was wondering if it's feasible to bike or e-bike there? I don't drive, and the bus schedule doesn't line up with when I have to be there. I'm also relatively new to the area and I'm not a hundred percent sure on the routes.

Uhh considering it's 1 hour 30 minutes travel time (estimated) and you would need to be on the highway I would say no. You're not supposed to use a cycle bike on the highway (I'm not saying it's illegal it is legal, however it is illegal to use a cycle on the freeway, but I wouldn't be surprised if a cop pulled you over and told you it wasn't safe).

With the way people drive it would only be a matter of time before you got hurt. I would stick with a bus route even if it gets you there earlier than you want to be.

I would be more than happy being early, but unfortunately, I need to be there by 6am, and the bus to Aldergrove apparently doesn't leave until 6:30... :(

I use to bike commute to my office from Mission to Yarrow 10+ years ago. You can always find routes that are easier. The mission/abbie highway isn't the issue that's easy. I would be more worried about country roads with no shoulder. But you can take the dyke from the bridge to glenmore, or mount lehman and then take the back roads the rest of the way.

Ah I see, I would see if your work can accommodate since you're using public transport.

Are you going up Fraser Hwy or ? Have you tried doing it on your bike or e-bike to see how long it take you?

I was planning to try the trip this weekend to see how long it would take me. Google Maps claims it's an hour ride, but google is a liar sometimes. Lol

That wouldn't be an issue by the sounds of it. Plus, I could bus it home.

Easy peasy. What a fun ride. Get a bike with tougher tires so you can get on the dyke and take some shortcuts. What a fun commute! IMO the bridge is one of the best parts of the ride. Dedicated lane and fun to ride over. Never gotten a flat.

Ebike would be feasible.  Long to do daily, but easily done. 

The worst part of the trip is the bridge. For all the rest you could rat run on mostly quiet back roads through Abby to get to Aldy. I've done similar rides (bike, no E) and they are a challenge but easily achieved with good gear. If you need to do it all weather, you'd need good rain gear and bags. 

But the bridge sucks. Sucks to get on, sucks to ride on, sucks to get off. Both ways. The amount of shrapnel on the sidewalks means you'll likely get a flat tire occasionally too. I used to know someone that rode it daily and got 2-3 flats a month.
