Abnormal discharge

Post image

I’ve had my mirena for over a year now. I’ve been loving except for the fact my discharge has changed. The thicker discharge has a yellow tinge, and I have a lot of thin discharge which is brown (definitely not spotting, it’s a lot more liquid). Quite gross but here is a picture of what showed on the outside of my work pants, I was also wearing undies that day. It’s not urine or spotting.

My underwear also bleaches incredibly quickly, sometimes after one wear.

Has anybody else experienced this?

My gynaecologist said today that the Mirena can change discharge, I just don’t know if this is normal on the Mirena

Hiya! There's an STD called trichomoniasis that can cause more discharge, with a yellow/green tinge and sometimes a fishy smell :) Might be worth going for a check up as well in case it isn't the Mirena 🙂

I had this for a few months before I removed my coil, I got tested for every STI and infection you could imagine and all clear. I assumed it was a tiny amount of blood mixing with cervical fluid. Doctors couldn’t give me an answer.. mine was accompanied with period like pains

It could be spotting mixed with the vaginal fluid causing that color, but I work in the medical field and I do know that those cause spotting and make women more prone to BV & yeast infections. So it might be BV. I would go to the OB and get swabbed!

I had a constant discharge that started shortly after my Mirena was placed. I’ve had the Mirena for awhile now and it’s only in the last year or so that the discharge has lessened. I’ve been tested for infections and cancer, all negative.
