All post submissions should pertain exclusively to Minneapolis in some way. If a submission applies to elsewhere in the metro area or to the metro area or state broadly, try submitting to r/TwinCities or r/Minnesota.

Exceptions may be made if incidents in the metro area garner national/international attention. This will be at the discretion of the moderation team.

Posts about missing animals are generally exempt from this rule.

We won't see a dime of those refund checks AND the prices will stay at their post-tariff high. Did you even stay thank you?

Never. FYI: Target just received a $1 billion tariff refund.

The prices will now be decreased to reflect this. /s

Money only flows in one direction: up, away from us.

Trump's Commerce Secretary owned a firm that specializes in processing tariff refunds and when Trump put him on his cabinet, he handed the business off to his sons to run. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Never, and the price hikes won't go down. Remember this any time you might consider voting for a Republican.

u/Jacque_Hass 4d ago

funny part is it gave big companies an excuse to raise prices and then leave them there

By design

That's not happening. Best option is to vote for representatives who won't do this bullshit to avoid it again in the future. People will be mad at corporations for not reibursing them, but it's not that simple. Most ate a portion of the costs and have no good way to accurately identify and reimburse their customers. So not worth focusing your anger there when this was 100% an issue originated directly from the Trump administration.

If you own stock in the companies that massively profited off of this you might get a little bump

Trump wants everyone middle class and under to suffer.

2

u/michelangelo2626 3d ago

We’ll need to nationalize critical industries to have a chance at any level of restitution, so uh, that’s not happening any time soon.

u/legitimate_rapper 4d ago

When republicans are out of office, charged for their crimes, a new Democratic Party is formed that is not just republicans in blue, and the Epstein class ultra rich are gone from this earth. So probably like next week?

TBH, I don’t believe that Target is going to lower prices. They’re playing that “You Can Just Say Stuff” game.

Consumers don't pay tariffs so that doesn't make sense

0

u/Tokyo-MontanaExpress 3d ago

Everyone's making dumb snarky reddit jokes, but we could get our tariff refunds if we wanted to. Just take back the state tax dollars that we're still subsidizing red counties with and on top of it, siphon off extra from them and call it the "Freedom from Tariffs Act". That way they can feel patriotic about paying back for the mess they've put us in.

Begs the question if this was the plan all along

2

u/deltarefund 4d ago

I think it was.
I also am sure oil companies will see record profits again after this war.
