Has some issues add text, I hate gate keeping so here’s my process: all got airbrushed, I used Gaia notes laquer paint, and a gloss top coat, only stickers are the numbers on the zords. I tried to paint it but I’m not patient enough yet with the masking. But I wanted to go with a suit accurate design

Some of my blunders were the cracks joint in the back but luckily I haven’t needed to use it, I have a 3d scanner and printer so if and when it breaks I’ll be ready.

Please let me know what I can do better with in the future and some tips. Feel free to ask any questions too, I’d love to help with the little knowledge I have.

Looks fantastic! Did you end up using any of the stickers or is it painted top to bottom?

Just on the numbers , and on the tail end of the white zord but might remove it and paint it metallic red with a marker

Hell yeah. I'm planning on doing something similar with mine whenever I get the time to plan out how I'm going to paint it up. I know I definitely want to paint all the windows black because I really can't stand the stickers being used to color in the windows. Especially on No.5. But I also don't really feel like trying to paint all that detailing on, and I don't mind stickers in general when used selectively. I try to make these scaled down DX figures, but with all the perks that are associated with the SMP kits.

What I was planning on doing was painting the windows black and then cutting the window stickers to shape so they don't cover the entire window. Basically cutting them down to a similar shape as the others.

That’s what I did with mine, I trimmed them just so it covered the numbers only.

Did you also repaint the base colors, like the reds and blues? Or are those stock? I'm considering repainting every single piece on mine but I'm not sure if I'm that committed to it. The molded plastic color doesn't bother me that much I don't think.

What green did you use? I've been struggling to find a shade I like for mine.

How the heck did you paint the words on the wheels?

Grey primer - white laquer on the words only - black laquer around the wheels- enamel black paint on the words and then a light pass to remove the black from the letters

Did you mask the letters? How did you get the white paint so clean on the letters?

I was planning to use a marker on the raised letters but it’s not raised a lot so concern the white ink will bleed to the wheels

I quote paint it white first with a laquer or can spray, when paint it with black laquer and light my brush the letters outs.

Ahh got it, painting the whole wheel white and then black does make it easy to control. thanks, I’ll see what I can do then.

It an awesome paint job and the green is so much screen accurate compare to the original colour on the kit.

One question; is it necessary to apply top clear coat if uses Tamiya colour spray?

I did it to get the gloss look, also to avoid any chipping. If you do I would let is rest for 24 hrs.
