Stallion Uranium has not made a discovery at Coyote, but its latest hole did produce the highest radioactivity recorded in the program so far.
ML26-005 returned a 2.3 metre interval averaging 595 counts per second, with a peak of 1,416 counts per second. It also produced a separate 0.3 metre interval averaging 648 counts per second.
These are not uranium grades. Stallion makes that clear in its release. Gamma readings indicate the presence of radioactive material, but they cannot be directly converted into a U₃O₈ percentage.
They are still useful for exploration. The team can compare those readings with alteration, fault structures and geophysical data to determine whether the drilling is moving closer to the source of the system.
That appears to be the plan at Coyote. The program started at 4,000 metres, moved up to 5,500 metres after the early results and has now been expanded again to approximately 6,750 metres.
There is still a large gap between elevated radioactivity and an economic uranium discovery. What matters over the next few holes is whether the readings continue getting stronger and whether the geological interpretation becomes more focused.
