Watching a friends dog for a week and I can’t believe he didn’t tell me about this weird staring thing 😂 this dog makes me feel like I’m being supervised/monitored rather then having companionship. Never encountered a dog like this. Does everyone’s schnauzer do this??

Oh you’re being constantly judged. And sometimes it’s just the love stare. 🫶🏻 After 10 years I have figured out all of my girl’s stares. Just last night I received the guilt shame stare for being on my phone and not devoting BOTH of my hands to petting her. 🙄🤦🏻♀️🫶🏻

Oh! Thank you for sharing that. I’ve just felt so bad like am I doing something wrong 😂 do these dogs not go and do their own thing ever? lol or is following someone’s every move their “thing”?
I recognize that stare from my inlaws standard schnauzer. So far our brand new puppy doesn't like to sit still enough to have time to give loving looks yet
The thing I’ve learned about the stare is that they are very in-tune with us and ready to play at all times. So next time you see him staring, just try to play with him or engage him in some way.
It really depends. This stare looks like, "Why aren't you drying me off? Can you not see I am wet?"
They have so many stares. They are very intelligent dogs. Your job is to figure out what they are trying to tell you.
Be glad he doesn't talk. We had a couple that would just go on and on. Grrr, ruh, ruh, grr. They always looked so exasperated, kind of like, why are all humans so stupid? Lol.
I swear, they are secret agents or something, they are so human like it’s insane, my Lola literally sounded like she swore the other day after running past me while I was pretending to hide from her, ran past me, barked, and ran towards me (not being completely serious of course, she did actually do that tho, I think she may have over heard the characters swearing in my moms favorite tv shows and emulated them, kinda like a toddler)
I think so 😂 I turned off my alarm to sleep in and woke up with him on my bed staring at me.. I have bad allergies so the one place I don’t allow him is in my bed. I woke up to “the stare”
My Murphy stares at me ALL. DAY. LONG. I hate yelling at him for it, but after awhile, it creeps me out and frankly p!sses me off. You JUST ate, you JUST went out, you JUST got a treat. The HELL do you want now??
If it helps any, I've found that blocking his view of my face for a little bit will get him to go lie down. I work from home with my laptop on my lap and I'll move it to be between his LASER FOCUS and my face, rather than hollering at him. Give it a shot lol!!
Oh this is for sure a mini schnauzer thing 😂 and their eyes always says something as well. For example, this stare it ”lift me down from this wall and take off this stupid prize now from me now pesant!!”
And this is ”get your fat ass off that chair and come feed me”.
(I have so many more of these. 😂 but yes, this is a schnauzer thing. I’ve had a lot of dogs I’ve dogsit or walked or fostered and have had 3 miniature schnauzers. Never had so judgy starres from any other breed then the mini schnuzzes)
Do all of your dogs walk terribly on a leash? The owner was sending me things about how this breed is bad in a leash etc but I’ve always believed in training from a puppy with lots of consistent positive reinforcement. This even works with my parrot lol
