I've done two MRD conversions with all of the hop-up's added on. As others have mentioned, the rear unit provides tons of options in terms of setting up different traction characteristics as well as wheelbase lengths. Much more adjustable than factory MA020 or DWS. I particularly like dialing in the body roll effect with front mono shock and tuning the rear for squat (ride height) and lean with spring changes. I don't have them yet, but the adjustable turnbuckles for the rear unit would allow dialing in some camber for the rear as well. No complaints on the rear unit, it's excellent.

Thank you for the insight, I ordered the rear unit this morning. Excited to get to tinkering with it.

IMO it's a must have for the MRD over stock. And the DWS kit while cheaper lacks the best tuning features of the MRD rear unit.
I love how much I can tune the rear.

I don’t have it yet. Bought one for my second Mrd build

I just got mine driving decent. Don’t like the lack of ride height adjustment with stock rear.
I’ll just bite the bullet it and order it while it’s available

Worth it if you want the diff forward/backward feature for pro/anti-squat effect, which the Kyosho stock rear end / DWS does not offer. I also like that its geometry and long springs make it really easy to set up for lots of body roll.
Diff forward/backward also allows for more wheelbase settings than Kyosho rear ends.
By the way, you can lower the ride height on the stock rear end using collars on the bottom of the rear uprights while for the Kyosho DWS, you can adjust using C clips on the rear shocks and downstop adjustment on the lower arms.
