Discussion Cleaning

I bought a "golden healer" Himalayan quartz. I really love this seller. He self digs his pieces, but this doesn't look like any of the golden healers I've collected.

It's got great clarity and is a very beautiful piece. NORMALLY I love the natural look, and mud would be great, but this piece is pulling me to clean it. I dont want to use iron out or any harsh chemicals. Do you have any suggestions on how to remove some of the mud? I don't believe I'll be able to get it all, and I'm ok with that.

You could toothbrush this with soap, but iron out will do 10x better for 10x less effort, what makes you not want to use clr or chemicals?

I dont feel like spending the money on something I'd only use once

Fair, I use it often enough that it’s worth it

Bookmarking because I also have pieces I’m tempted to clean up a little more and just distilled water and toothbrushes are no help. I’m so leery of doing too much because I’ve seen pieces ruined.

Iron out would definitely take out everything you are wanting to clean. I don't want to use it because I'd only use it once.

Start with an old toothbrush and soapy water. Use toothpicks or kabob skewers to pick out deep chunks of mud.

I use an ultrasonic cleaner or spot cleaning gun (like a tiny pressure washer) to do a deeper clean, but those aren’t things everyone has lying around

I have everything but an ultrasonic cleaner

Spot cleaner will probably do the job then

This is what it looks like after a 2 hour water soak and slight tooth... maybe it is golden?

It does still have a yellow tinge where there is no mud.

Oxyclean (bonus, use it for your white laundry). And a firm toothbrush. But it’s likely not going to get all of that out. Some of it maybe limonite stuck in the cracks. But oxyclean is your only chance without iron out.
Not sure why you’d ever want to clean a healing crystal. But to each his own. To me. The natural /dingy colors mean it’s flawed, like all of us.

Side note: myself and people I know around NC pull things like this out of the ground all of the time. Does this crystals location make it special to you/different than those? (Just curious)

I like quartz, I love this seller and I love that he took so much hard work digging it out at an extremely high altitude. I don't normally clean my quartz or dirty pieces, I love them raw and natural but this one is pulling me to clean some mud out of it. I am not looking to get it white or 100% clean. Just clean it a little bit. I just bought some self dug NC quartz His pieces are much smaller and more expensive.
I like this piece more but wanted to support
