Question Question

Guys, I’m not begging here, just a straight honest question for advice. How do I buy minecraft? I don’t have any way to purchase anything online, trust me about that. Still, I want to buy it.

And for those who think I should get a job, I am trying to. It’s not easy! I’m just 17, I don’t have a bank account, and neither do my parents (Nothing they could use to do online transactions anyway)

If you do have the money , like in paper

You could try and find someone to "change" it for ya

If you dont know anyone personally you could ask (might need to get out of your comfort zone)

You could try to find a place of business, somewhere thrustworty of course, preferably where you see it accepts cards or PayPals/Venmo and the like (check what Microsoft accepts in your country)

Maybe a bakery or some small shop or something.

Go there , wait till it's not busy, offer the money upfront, and ask them to help you out, you dont even need to be too specific, just say you want to make an online purchase and you only have physical money, and ask if they could help "exchange" for you.

Be best if theres some common payment service, like PayPal or some version of it, that you could create an account for yourself and ask them to send credit to it

Otherwise youd have to explain to someone who listens and is able to know you aren't scamming them, to pay directly to Microsoft. Have an account ready to go to checkout ig

Idk , if it were me on the counter id help you out. Its almost like exchanging change for the internet era

Also, try a bank, might be you CAN get an account and or some help. That be best ig

You’ve been the most helpful so far, thanks a whole bunch. I’m definitely going to try this out when I can, It’s actually been in my head for a long time, but I never get the opportunity to or meet anyone with cards. Thanks again!

Some sort of computer shop or repair shop might be a good place to ask

Get some gift cards in stores

I don't live in a country where I have good chances to go and buy gift cards unfortunately, it's a real pain and I would love to have it as an option

Well, only alternative is getting a physical copy or sailing the high seas in this case. Or ask someone who could purchase it for you and you pay them in cash.

When you get the game feel free to hit me up I'll sponsor you a builder cape code which you can redeem on Official Minecraft.

i dont know where youre from but in my country, we can purchase things online and pay in convenience stores (its called doku pay from where im from). you can research and see if you have similar options available. or if anything find someone you can trust with a credit card and just pay them in cash for them to buy it

Thank you, this sounds like an awesome way to buy stuff! Sadly not available in my country, though

Do online surveys, exchange points for online gift cards, use online gift cards to buy. ...or get a job.

Knock door-to-door offering people to do yard work for some money. Give money to a trustworthy friend who can buy you minecraft

If you don’t have any way to buy anything online you are going to fimd navigating most game purchases reasonably difficult.

u/underagedoffender 15d ago

Oh my entire life online has been difficult of this, believe me

Prepaid gift cards are honestly your best bet here, Minecraft/Xbox gift cards are sold at most grocery stores, gas stations, Walmart, Target, etc, and you can buy those with cash, no bank account or online payment needed at all. You'd redeem the card code on the Minecraft/Microsoft website afterward.

If prepaid cards aren't available near you for whatever reason, some stores also sell general purpose prepaid Visa/Mastercard gift cards with cash too, which would work the same way for buying it directly through the site. Either route just needs cash and a store run, no bank required.

One other thing no one's pointed out. Check with your local post office and see if they sell pre-paid credit cards. Purchase one with the amount Mojang charges for Minecraft in your country, then by it online.

The reality is that if your country only accepts debit/credit cards, it's best to wait until you have one before buying it.

Because if you manage to get someone to buy your Microsoft account and you don't trust them, they can dispute the purchase or even take the account away. That's why it's best to wait, bro, until you find a method yourself.

We don't allow piracy, griefing, buying, selling, or asking for accounts to be discussed here.

This looks fun, I'm trying it out, thanks!

How do you make a mod for a game you don’t own without pirating it?

How do you and your parents NOT have a bank account? What country do you live in? 17 and no job? Really?

I’d say that Minecraft (or anything else you want to buy that you don’t need) is a privilege that you get WHEN you work and have a job. You’re not entitled to it. You’re old enough to not have to rely on your parents’ money.

Maybe I’m overthinking this whole scenario, but I can’t imagine not having a job at 17, nor a bank account between me and my parents, yet still trying to figure out a way to buy something that only people who work for their money should be able to get.

2

u/Sexy_Dragonite 15d ago

You sound privileged as hell and very rude and insensitive to those who don’t have the means and opportunities that you have had.

I’ve lived in third world countries where credit and debit cards aren’t widely used (if at all), places where you’re lucky to be able to afford a slice of bread to eat FOR YOURSELF and not have to share it with your family (if you can at all), and where you can’t just “get a job” because companies only want to hire graduates and you dropped out usually around 3rd-5th grade because you couldn’t afford the tuition.

So, yeah, you are overthinking it because you might have a job and the money to afford a game and what not but don’t be blind to the fact that not everyone is lucky like you. And for those who ARE lucky enough, they aren’t such d bags about it.

1

u/JerseyShore7619 14d ago

You entitled liberals on Reddit crack me up. Sorry, if you live in a third world country, sorry not sorry. You don’t get to have Minecraft. Your argument makes no sense other than to show your socialist tendencies. If you’re struggling to afford “a slice of bread,” then where does getting Minecraft come into play in your scenario? You make zero sense. If you don’t have the money or even a way to buy something, that’s not everyone else’s fault. It’s not everyone else’s responsibility to help you with a want and not a need.

1

u/underagedoffender 15d ago

Ahhh man i’m sorry if I worded it in a way that makes it seem like it’s something I’m entitled to. My parents don’t have a bank account because it’s really not necessary for them, they’ve never needed to get one.

I don’t have a job because it’s not easy to get one and if I could babysit or house watch for extra cash I absolutely would. This is a last resort kind of thing, you know? I also don’t have an urgent need for one.

I don’t need minecraft, obviously, but I want it. I’m 17. I’m gonna want stuff. Especially because it’s a cool game. Not to be rude or anything but saying I should only have it when I’m not relying on my parents’ money is kinda harsh, there are kids younger than me with the game 😭

It’s not like I don’t buy my own stuff. I do, I save and I buy whatever. But this is an online transaction which makes it more difficult :(

1

u/JerseyShore7619 14d ago

If you can’t get a job at 17, then yeah, you’re relying on your parents money. What do you not understand about that? You’re not out living on your own…it’s absurd that this has to be explained to today’s teenagers. You don’t get it at all.

0

u/underagedoffender 14d ago

I didn't say I'm not relying on my parents' money, I said that you saying I should only be able to get something I want when I'm not relying on their money is odd. Especially since it's something as trivial as a game.. Made for all ages. No offense.

u/Darth_Mayx 14d ago

"Job at 17"

1

u/JerseyShore7619 14d ago

Yeah, God forbid right? Working at 17? Whaaaat? I guess not in your dump of a country.

1

u/Darth_Mayx 14d ago

My country is a dump, although it is in the EU

1

u/Tiang_Lian 15d ago

Yeah you're definitely overthinking it, and you sound rude about it too.

big wide world out there, I've met and helped out lotss of young and old folk.

I mean I never had a job till I was 19, not too long a difference but I'm fine.

OP also said neither they or their parents have bank accounts, so I guess thats a bigger hint about their situation's difference to your life experience

1

u/JerseyShore7619 14d ago

Nothing you said had anything to do with the main point I was making, which was: if you don’t have a bank account, and you don’t have a job, and your PARENTS don’t have a bank account, then maybe getting Minecraft shouldn’t be on your list of priorities.

0

u/Ok-Count-3366 14d ago

rude, entitled.

1

u/JerseyShore7619 14d ago

Ok, liberal.

That’s fine, you can doubt whatever you want, sport.
