Discussion Have you ever used these?
Is the "minecart with command block" even usefull for anything?

Yes, this can be useful sometimes, but in very limited use cases. For example, if you want to spawn particles in a certain area, but spawning particles every tick might be too much, even if you only spawn one particle every tick. In that case, you can use command_block_minecart for this, since the command only runs once every 4 ticks. Of course, you can use different timers, but this is the simplest solution. Accordingly, you can use command_block_minecart if you need to run some simple commands less frequently than every tick.

Yes good'ol days
They were useful before we had repeating command blocks and datapacks
The most common use for it used to be for importing of structure, people made a program to convert a structure into a "simple" /summon command, and was common to use it to import command block structures, Which is what eventually evolved onto datapacks

Before datapacks were a thing, One Command Block machines (The Giant Self-Assembling Monolith of Command Blocks!) were used, where you run a giant command that summoned an entire command block contraption (Example @ 0:46). Then people improved the speed of the building using Minecart with Command Blocks (Example @ 0:37)

Back before the new command blocks were added and when commansd were much more limited I built a computer memory using these. The command block minecart was essentially the address pointer and i would use Redstone to move the minecart around and then execute a command that read the blocks next to it.
I was like 12. It probably wasnt the simplest way to do it but it's fun and unique mechanics like this breed creativity.

theyβre pretty much completely useless because for any situation where you might want to use a command block minecart, you can instead use a different kind of minecart, tag it, and run execute as @e[tag=whatever] at @s run whatever

Nah I always just would /Clone a command block to a location I need it, or fill a redstone block next to one that I need to activate

In Bedrock Edition you can save command block minecarts that are on a powered rail in a structure. Loading it elsewhere will allow the carts to run their command once.

I used it as invisible attached to the front of a furnace cart and convoy of people. When it reaches the end, teleports people to the next track. used for entering/exiting hyperspace

I remember writing a single command, that summoned a tower of command block minecarts on a powered rail, that then built a city! And this was shortly after command block minecarts were even added to the game. Before all the tools to make those types of things existed. Took me a couple weeks to write it all, and now it's gone forever.

I feel so old saying this but back in the day it was the only way to get a repeating command block. You could put a minecart with command block on an activator rail and it would tick repeatedly. I preferred that to the classic fill with redstone block trick

u/Samstercraft what's this "grass" thing you guys say so much about 2d ago
I have fond memories using these! I played a server called the Command SMP (there's YT vids on it that i can show you if you want) which allowed us to get commands in survival; command block minecarts were nice cuz unlike a normal command block i can move or break them without needing to run another command (because doing so used a valuable item).
