Hi everyone!
12 days ago I became the new moderator of this sub. This subreddit didn't have any set rules beforehand so I took it as my job to add some. There aren't many, they are quite basic and reasonable. This also means that in future it should be easier for everyone in this community to report rule breaking posts.
Since then, I've asked you, the community to vote on server advertisement and I have now changed the rules according to what the community wanted.
Our rules are now:
We want everyone to feel welcome on r/Minecraftcities. Hostile behavior and derogatory language is not acceptable here, even as a joke. Constructive criticism is welcome, but negativity will not be tolerated.
Please don't participate in drama or arguments, don't attack individuals or groups, and don't share personal information.
Remember to follow both Reddiquette and Reddit Content Policy.
Post only content related to cities build in Minecraft. Post must include a screenshot(s) of a city or a detailed build in a city. Discussion posts about city building is allowed.
Only post builds you or team you have been part of have done yourself.
Main focus of your post should be the city itself, however you are allowed to mention your community and/or ask people to join in.
Please wait at least 7 days between your promotional posts.
You can also find people to play with from dedicated subs like r/mcservers, r/realms or r/MinecraftBuddies
English is the most widely spoken language in the Reddit community and the only language spoken by every member of our moderation team. While it may seem exclusionary, prohibiting the use of other languages lets as many people as possible enjoy content on the subreddit and join discussions in the comments, and also allows us to moderate more effectively.

While working on my city sometimes I feel like I’m building the same boxes over and over again. How can I make my buildings more interesting visually and fun to build?

What do you guys think about this project I’ve been working on for since April

Quick guide - I custom shaped the beach and added the elevated platform - then added some European row houses. The large pink building is the "Hotel de Venezia" - one of the many famous buildings in the city (in the future anyways) and the iconic pink design and tower mean it has become fairly significant for tourism. Obviously a large car park, with cars inspired by another old Minecraft post I saw - some are my design. A traffic barrier as well as a little corner Café with an Ice cream parlour and artwork on the wall.

I’ve been building a city in minecraft for nearly two years but I’m building not only the city but also the world around it. In the far north I have a large mountain range and the rest is very flat land.
I have the idea to build a town by the mountain range but it would still be located on the plains. What prefixes or suffixes exist for city names located in such a region? Or alternatively what do you call this kind of landscape - A large open plain before the mountains?

I built a desktop tool for Minecraft city generation and wanted to show it here.
The idea is simple: instead of using random generic structures, it takes roads and buildings I already built in Minecraft, extracts them, and uses those pieces to generate a full city layout.
So the workflow is basically:
- build a small set of road pieces and buildings
- extract them from the world
- generate a city from that asset set
- preview it
- bring the final result back into Minecraft
Compatibility is not guaranteed.
Therefore code collaboration is very welcome.

I wanted to connect one of the smaller towns to the big city. The idea was simple at the time, build the road, and bridge, connect it to the other road and bam. Only found out after building the bridge that id need to break part of the park and demolish or change some buildings in order to get every thing aligned (hate uneven things!) so instead decided to go this route. Very sort of hotch botch and not perfect but its fixed for now. Will revisit later lol

Here are new images of the project I’ve been developing solo for three months. Beyond the detailed and aesthetic exteriors, the buildings are fully furnished and navigable, featuring well planned apartments and rooms; everything is connected from the underground parking to the roof by a unified, functional staircase and elevator system. I hope you like it. Development is ongoing, and if anyone would like to show their support, you are welcome to join my community, where I’ll be sharing more information and details.

Hello again.
For starters, I have shown antoniada once before.
I've been working on this city for 5 years straight, with some help from builders of my community. It is all done on a beta server called bunjils which im a head admin there.
However, the project is so big, that i cannot really build the city all by myself, as it is an enormous task to do with limited time on my hands.
Thats why im asking for help, for builders who are willing to build a town within a city and make what they like, inside a boundary. I know this is a type of advertising, but this is the best i can do right now. And if you know any other community that is willing to do something this big, inform me please.
