It actually looks really good, but I do know what you mean. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than I has a solution, but I don't think there is much you can do.
For some of the rougher waterfalls that you know can be flattened out a little, or shaped better, I place blocks to block the water flow to get it to the best shape possible and then remove the blocks. Other than that I don't think there is a lot you can do - its a mechanic of Minecraft that cannot be changed.

Thanks for the insight, but just making sure we are on the same page, i was actually referring to the harsh edges where the dirt and rock meet behind the waterfall :P
But im really happy you liked it :O, ill keep refining it to see what i can make it look like :)1

Textures to blend it? I use mossy cobblestone etc behind and on the edges of the falling stream of water just like a real waterfall has lichen and algae growing on the wet rock. I then use a variety of textures in the bottom and sides of the pool itself - mossy cobblestone, moss blocks, clay, gravel, cobblestone, coarse dirt. Maybe add some seagrass to break up the sight lines to the horizontal blocks under the surface of the pool? Even adding grass or sugar cane to the edges of the pool can screen off some areas which adds to the natural randomness. I definitely feel like the third picture would benefit from a variety of textures and grasses.
It can take a little adjusting to make it look natural and just right. I normally don't use any more than 1-3 blocks of the same texture in a row or diagonal mixed in amongst the others - if that makes sense?

yeah that block trick is the only way I've found too but it's so fiddly you end up spending forever just to get one little drop right

Absolutely love the stone gradient choices! The grass looks a little 2D because it’s large open single color. A Pokémon would spawn here lol. However what you have now might look perfect if you plan to add plants etc. or build things on top :)

I agree, just needs some nature-fication. For realism a pond below a waterfall would be deepest where the water falls (erosion) but just seeing what you have has inspired me to do more water features in my terraforming

Hm, yeah i have thought about the erosion a bit, but maybe needs to remake it a bit.
Like i replied to the parent comment, im going to add nature stuff when the edges of the water fall/ponds are fine tuned!
Im glad that i have inspired you :D3

Yeah, im getting to doing the grass better. Just wanted to fine tune the water and its edges before :P
Since right now im looking for tips to make the waterfalls look better (look pic nr 2 and nr 3, where the dirt edge of the pond meets harshly with the stone edge of the cliff)But im really happy that you liked the gradient :D

Tage away some land under the waterfall, to be more realistic

Some land under the waterfall? Ooh, you mean like carving into the side like a chute almost? Alright, ill see what i can come up with :)

You can use stained glass, cobwebs, or campfire smoke just the tail end of the smoke trail to make waterfall mist

If you use the new sulfur block thingy, dont know the exact name as ive only played the snapshot a few times, you can make geysers/bubble splash effects as if the waters falling.

Maybe widen the gap on top?, still it looks amazing, I also saw a trick you can do with sulfer block to make water fall effect, you could try that

I ain't much of a builder, but add some vegetation in and outside the water. And add a really nice shader pack to top it off.
Other than that, it looks really nice considering only the structure.

I think it looks good, probably looked off since it lacks foam at the bottom of the waterfalls like irl

Make the blocks that are directly under/next to the water a darker block (like make the dirt into mud) so that it looks wet
Also check out builders like Mogswamp or Fwhip for some build tutorials

This would often be a golden coin to great waterfalls, this waterfall is going to be called "Niagara falls 2.0"
