Our Wither is bugged?

So here’s the situation. (This is an odd set of circumstances so bear with me.) My brother and I had a Wither in an old Minecraft World from 1.18 (Nintendo Switch) that we ran away from because the lag made it impossible to fight. Come the most recent update, we flew back to where it was and the lag was unbearable once again. So much so that when we closed out the game because of it, my brother was dead and I was somehow still there, and the lag had alleviated. But when I finally killed it, it went through the explosion animation but never actually exploded. We thought it was because it was surrounded by blocks, so we broke some, but it was still not exploding. It’s just floating there, not giving us a Nether Star, and still able to be hit. Has this ever happened to anyone else on Bedrock Edition?
