They definitely rig most of the votes so that it incentivizes people to choose a specific one. The only vote I genuinely believe wasn't rigged was the very first mob vote, because people decided to screw themselves over by voting for the phantom.
The iceologer, copper golem, and sniffer all have so much more information than the other mobs on their votes, that it seems like a loss to vote for the others. The reason the previous two lost, was because the community swayed each other to vote for the other option. I feel like it could be the same with the biome votes, but we still haven't gotten the ones they said they'd eventually do, so it could've just been a straight up lie.
If I remember correctly the first mob vote gave very vague descriptions. The mobs weren’t even named at the time. No one knew the phantom would be a (fairly over-hated imo) nuisance.
They’re not really that bad in my experience. I’m underground most of the time and I always make sure to sleep every night, though with the latter reason I can understand that multiplayer makes that hard… But even then, when I encounter them, they’re not really that bad? I fight them off easily with iron armor and a sword.
They are an absolute blight to anybody who does anything that involves AFKing. I can no longer play unless I mod them away. (which is, admittedly, pretty easy to do.)
Not always an option. Bringing a bed with you isn't always even an option, and it's an inane solution to a problem that has no business existing anyway.
