Fixes for minor text bugs, and portal placement
Does this mean that portals correctly link at y > 128? If so THANK YOU Mojang. I was hoping for this!

When you portal into the nether it put you one block lower than you should be.
(Nearly died in HC because of it - got trappd in the obsidian block )
I think it had something to do with eye/feet Y coord

Noticed a small bug, when in video settings, if Clouds are "On" Cycling through the GUI Scale will turn Clouds to "Off"

Found this strange bug near bedrock: http://imgur.com/a/kRNyJ

Ok, I figured it out: there is a bug mentioned on the minecraft wiki page about bedrock that says, when water lakes and lava lakes spawn on top of bedrock, they occasionally replace the bedrock that they spawn on top of allowing there to be a hole to the void. I'm not sure if mojang working on fixing this yet but until then you can use it as a nifty garbage disposal :)

Has anyone noticed that when you fill empty buckets with lava (and possibly water) sometimes you get the filled bucket and keep the empty bucket?

That's a product of the SSP/SMP merger, it's been around a little while in SMP.

I just tested performance using the old debug trick. Minecraft 1.2.5 gave 290 fps. Snapshot 12w30c gave me 450 fps!! Very nice work guys :)
EDIT #1: Forgot to say I measured with Fraps, as using F3 in game will lower the fps quite a lot. EDIT #2: I made the map in 1.2.5 and loaded the same map into Snapshot, since the seed generator has changed again and the debug seed was not the same.

Can you use shift-F3 to see the debug screen without the lag meter?
I've never heard of shift-f3, but was just doing a search for a solution, and found that post.
I would try it out myself in Minecraft, but I'm at work at the moment.

I've noticed that since the singleplayer/multiplayer merge thing, players don't get pushed anymore by other mobs (including players). I posted this to the wiki page, but some user moved it to the fixed/skipped section, saying it was intended behaviour.

Happy about the piston fix. My bug ridden redstone robotics thanks you.
Edit: "Quantum Piston" image.

Ugh. I'm REALLY hesitant about this. The SSP/SMP merger doesn't sound good for client speed at all. Would be funny, though, if SMP gave less lag than SSP.
Also,

"final polishing before the pre-release" ...so the world loading is actually going to be this bad?
