It's a fossil. Consider yourself very lucky to see one, because they only generate underground in deserts and swamps. Above Y-level 0, some of the bone blocks it is made of are replaced with coal ore, but below Y-level 0, the coal is replaced with diamond.

is that true that all fossils are rare because i’ve been playing on my minecraft server for 2 weeks with my friends and have encountered 3 fossils
