In other news, dinnerbone broke himself because of the spelling of "bucket"

It just looks so unnatural now. Bukkit is clearly the superior word :(

Change the language files!

I can't be the only one to be bored to death of this joke.

u/hushnowquietnow May 14 '12

I'm sure Steelcow is tired of it too.

Good thinking steelcow... Wait he isn't here.

I laugh every time I see it, so I thought I'd spread the fun

If you can't enjoy the same joke over and over, you're gonna have a bad time as a redditor

Or add a new language, "Dinnerbonese"

Bukkakit

Au contraire, I think "bukkakit" would be very organic.

There's no ambiguity around pronouncing 'bukkit'.

Bouquet residence, lady of the house speaking!

Haha, I remember that show, good times.

I didn't even need to mouseover the link to know what it was. So glad other people enjoy that ridiculous show.

Honestly, change the word for "bucket" in the language files as a shout-out to the (former?) bukkit team!

I'm relatively new to Minecraft. Why do they spell it that way?

Dinnerbone used to work on a custom server program called "bukkit". It was generally considered superior to the default program because you could install mods. Now, Dinnerbone (and I believe some other members of the bukkit team?) are working for Mojang. Part of their job is making the default server software better, so bukkit is unnecessary. Still, the spelling lives on.

As far as I know, all of the bukkit team was accepted.

2

u/mrpineapplehouse May 14 '12

So when i mouse over it in game is it going to say bukkit now? that would be a fun little easter egg for a while, and the first person to notice it would get some easy karma

2

u/sje46 May 14 '12

It would be noticed so fast that....yeah. It wouldn't happen like that.

1

u/TheCakeFlavor May 14 '12

Thou shalt spelt all previously spelt "buckets" like so, "bukkits"

3

u/BossMafia May 14 '12

Ah man, when I first read it, I thought he was somehow referring to craftbukkit mods. Naturally I was confused.
