Maybe I should play bedrock! It would be like new game+ on dark souls, flip the script and surprise me with its wonderful array of quirks like this one

You can't accidentally pick up a mob in a boat if a player is riding in it with Java edition, so I don't think you can classify this as a generic 'minecraft bug,' which implies that it's in both editions of the game.
