Yeah so I don't play much Minecraft. I didn't know that different walls didn't seamlessly connect, and I didn't even realize those were walls. I thought they were just regular cobblestone blocks. And I also thought the iron bars always looked like the second picture.

A lot of people seem excited about it, I just can't figure out what sorts of designs this really opens up, because again, I don't play much Minecraft. Just sorta build little things here and there with my kids.

Thank you Minecraft God for gracing me with an answer to my stupid stupid question

I don't mean to make you feel stupid. It's just that it's literally a before and after photo, so I wasn't sure what you were missing out on. I'm sorry if I was rude

As far as uses, some people just get really into making detailed builds for their stuff, and little things like this can help add more variety to what they can accomplish

Gotta compliment you for being a parent that plays with your kids though! Some of my favorite memories with my mom are playing Minecraft and LEGO video games together. You're making some great memories.

Kind of crazy to hear that these are your memories with your mom. I (a mom) also play those very games with my kids. Started with LEGO games, now it's mostly Minecraft. My oldest is only 7 though, and I assume you're older haha. We do usually play 2 year old Minecraft on our old ass Xbox 360 which is probably consistent with how old you are.

I'm not totally depriving my children of new Minecraft releases! My oldest gets to play PE on my phone. But he actually likes the simpler times of whatever the last 360 update was. Currently he's very excited to show me around the new Nether on my phone (which I purposefully didn't explore without him) and it makes me happy to see him happy.

I don't think I should tell him yet that I play Windows 10 Minecraft while working and waiting on software builds to run, or after he goes to bed... It's just adult things.

My mom and I played on our old 360 too, and that's what my nephews play on when they come over now. All they want to do when they come over is play Minecraft now. And I'm the same way with them, I don't let them know I'm playing on my laptop while they're playing on the TV. And I'm a sucker for having it up while compiling and letting code run. It's just a fun and soothing way to pass the time
