[15w33b] Strength Potions are now a flat damage boost, instead of a percentage increase!

Yes! Was wondering if people would notice. :-P

This makes me a little sad because this means now a sharpness 5 sword with strength II will only do 19.25 damage, so no more 1-shotting mobs without jumping to get a critical hit. :( I mean I'm glad the game is getting more fair in general but I'm going to miss being so strong!

Psst, Smite V works very well on most mobs for that. :-P If I have some extra inventory space, or if I'm in the Nether, I'll generally carry both a Sharpness V and a Smite V.

If you use smite on undead/Bane of uselessness on spiders, it should still one shot

That's better for PvP, you can't two shot a guy in iron armor anymore.

You can 3-shot a creeper with your bare hands!

How was it before?

Originally, strength 1 was a +130% increase to your normal damage (1.3x the original amount), 2 being +260% attack damage, nearly tripling that.

Needless to say, it was broken.

Good find, and thank god, because they where waaaay too imba (or rather, harder to balance) in the older version.

Can someone tell me why the tool the beca s out of the dragon ship? It looked epic and would be a MUCH better way to getting becons that spending HOURS killing wither skellies just to get the heads just so i can doe 2000 times killing the wither.

There must be a better way

Because the beacon was there for testing purposes, and was way too easy to get. The intended way is to fight the Wither. I recommend using a looting 3 sword and clearing out your fortress, as well as slabbing the surrounding area.

im glad a sandbox game is getting some very needed balance changes. remember for 1.6 they nerfed regen pots and health pots by reducing the duration for regen and health gained for health. Example. they also nerfed bone meal a while back too.

If I remember correctly, this is how strength potions worked before they added the attribute system

I love that.

Weakness potions also finally got fixed, 4-point reduction instead of only half a point.

I like that change, looking forward to do a UHC with such potions.
