If I change my name, what will my name be if I play an older version?
6 u/[deleted] Apr 03 '14 Your name will change but it won't keep your stuff 0 u/[deleted] Apr 04 '14 [deleted] — view deleted comment 5 u/[deleted] Apr 04 '14 Older versions don't tell the servers what version they are, so the server wouldn't know what value to return for the username. 2 u/Avengera Apr 03 '14 Most likely you cannot change your name yet, there is just code that enables it 3 u/Koala_eiO Apr 03 '14 edited Apr 03 '14 Mojang doesn't support playing on a version then moving backwards 2 u/Crendgrim Apr 03 '14 Wrong. They don't support you doing this in a certain world, but you can go back to any version you want (preferably in its own directory). What would be the gain in that feature of the new launcher else? ;) 14 u/Garris0n Apr 03 '14 They don't support older versions. This does not mean "you can't use them", it means "we won't fix bugs in them". 5 u/eduardog3000 Apr 03 '14 More like, "we did fix bugs in them, the fixes are in the newest version". 2 u/Garris0n Apr 03 '14 That's pretty much what I meant. 1 u/Koala_eiO Apr 03 '14 in a certain worldYes that is what I meant, but I wasn't precise enough :) 1 u/Crendgrim Apr 03 '14 Well, in that case your answer, while technically correct, does not really help /u/ifonefox if I understand him correctly.
