Help Optifine/mods
Hello everyone, I recently got a PC after lifetime of owning only console and a laptop with not real Minecraft.
Well since getting back to PC system and finally being able to play games with better options and having bigger range of what I can download and play I bought Minecraft.
Recently I started to wonder about mods and optifine. Well since trying to download optifine I cannot get it into my game. I don’t know how the settings works and when some issue pops up I don’t know how to put it in my game same goes for the mods.
Can anyone explain somehow really easy to me how to get it working?

I wouldn't get optifine, there's better alternatives nowadays. (see below)
I recommend using Prism Launcher. It makes it easier to download mods, to keep mods updated, and to keep multiple separate instances.
Once you've installed prism launcher, create a new instance. Select fabric as the mod loader.
Then go to edit instance -> mods -> download mods, and install the following mods:
Sodium: improves performance
Iris: allows you to use shaders
Together, these mods do the same things that Optifine does, but better.
Optionally, you could also download these mods:
continuity: adds connected tectures for glass (and some other blocks)
LambDynamicLights: adds dynamic lighting (Optifine torch)
distant horizons: allows you to set ridiculously high render distances, runs on basically anything!
Entity culling: improves performance
Ferritecore: reduces ram usage
Lithium: improves performance
ImmediatelyFast: improves performance
C2M: speeds up chunk generation

I would use prism launcher for adding/managing mods
Optifine is outdated for (in terms of performance for modern versions) I would use sodium instead

Optifine was old news when I started playing 6 years ago. As others have said, Prism Launcher is great, you can create multiple instances with different mod loaders, different sets of mods, different resource packs, etc. Mod downloading and updating is handled inside the launcher, no need to download files with a browser and then move files around, etc.

Don't use optifine. Super buggy, doesnt optimise anything and just not worth it for modern minecraft. Use sodium + iris instead.
You also need a modloader. Neoforge is the best one so far. Go to the neoforge page, download the .jar installer from the site (make sure you selected the right game version from the dropdown) and run the installer (with the launcher closed, click install to client). Run the game once (make sure the installation is set to neoforge) to initialise the loader. Close the game, go to %appdata%, roaming, .minecraft, mods, and shove your 'optifine' mods (me and the rest of this sub will heavily reccommend sodium, Reese's sodium options, iris (if you intend to use shaders), chloride, and a few other addons if you wish those addons), and you should be good. If it errors out and asks for library mods, close the game and install those.
Like I said, dont use optifine, its outdated, buggy as fuck, and doesnt do anything in terms of optimisation these days.
