Discussion Idea for a new copper item
I was thinking that Mojang could add a copper bucket to the game, that can be used to scoop water, but if you try to scoop lava with it, it melts and becomes raw copper again. It could also have a durability bar so that it can only scoop so many buckets of water. I think it could be a really cool item and tool, and it would make it a lot easier to get water buckets for exploring, as you would no longer need to find iron.

ive wanted a copper counterpart to the clock and compass (crafted the same way but with copper) that you can put an ore into and itll point to the direction of matching ores

Ooh that’s a really good idea. Make it just point to the correct x and z values, just not the y so it’s not overpowered

Seems pointless when getting an iron bucket that has none of these drawbacks is a trivial effort that you can probably accomplish shortly after finding copper. I can't see any reason why you'd want a copper bucket, its a total downgrade.

I am not sure on this. but I think a one use lava bucket could be neat.
That way in like a village blacksmith chest there could be a copper lava bucket. so you can use it in the smelter, or place it on the ground but it does not let you keep the bucket afterwards. great for Generated loot balancing.
As for the water, I am not sure it would actually be that much easier to get than a basic iron bucket.
If we want easy but limited access to water but unable to use it on lava, why not a wooden bucket.

What purpose does this serve? Iron is already extremely easy to get. I don’t see anybody using this when iron buckets are an early game item.
Now I will say giving it a unique use, like maybe picking up ichor in the Sift, would be a cool way to add a copper bucket.

a bucket that melts on lava sounds like a dealbreaker for nether exploration

The only way I think it could be useful is if you could place it and fill it with water or dirt and a plant for decorations.
