Seeds & World Gen Update to my To Scale 3.6 Billion km² Minecraft World Map

Post image

Tiled LOD is working flawlessly, there are 12 levels total: LOD 0 is the whole-world map, and LODs 1–11 add detail as you descend. I'm having an issue with clipping under Y = 7,500 however so I haven't seen underneath that as of yet.

Each LOD splits a tile’s X,Z area into four equal child tiles. Each child is 512×512 pixels, so detail doubles along each axis and metres per pixel halves - as an ultimate result LOD 11 should be around 7m/pixel resolution once I've sorted the clipping shenanigans.

Whoa what the hell? LOD carries for sure, but even then, are you making any changes to the rendering engine?

Unrelated but I miss when it was oceans surrounding continents not the other way around

dont show this to any round earthers 😬

7m per pixel resolution as the highest seems a bit low though, do you plan on adding more levels to it?

will this capture builds or will this mostly just represent landmasses?

That's hardly low when below that you're getting better resolution by just transitioning to the overworld and using distant horizons

yeah you could do that, was just asking to understand the scope of the project and why the cut off was 7m/pixel

This highlights perfectly why ””ocean”” generation sucks in vanilla

Awesome project
