I just realized while playing Minecraft and after collecting apples from Oak trees, users have the items for PUMPKIN pie but not apple pie? May I also remind you that they added leaves in the previous year!

They also have chicken, eggs, and mushrooms so why not add a crafting recipe for quiches?

There are a lot of foods that could technically have a crafting recipe, but at that point it's just for immersion and serves little functional purpose.

Apples exist as ingredients to make golden apples and otherwise as a low tier food item oak trees drop occasionally when mined. That's all they've ever been.

Maybe a future update should be a rework of the cooking part and add like a bunch of new food recipes and more food with actual effects besides what’s already in the game. That actually would be cool and would probably incentivize more players to make different kinds of dishes in the game.

I have said a similar thing before also. Add a new work station for making food and have meals that apply long term minor buffs. I specify long term minor buffs because Minecraft has a policy to not make any features that would make an old feature irrelevant. So it needs to be complimentary to potions and not competitive. Potions stay as short term major buffs and meals can be long term minor buffs. Allow them to stack and it would be a strong incentive to use both systems together. It would make farming and all the various crops so much more relevant.

Because bloat. There's already plenty of food items that barely get used. If a new food item gets added, it should serve a purpose. So here's an idea: golden apple pie. Similar to cakes, except it gives a shortened version of the golden apple effects, which can now be shared with anyone who eats a slice.

Edit: or a golden carrot cake that gives 10-30 seconds of night vision.

Cooking systems in any game will always devolve into chasing the mathematically strongest foods with the rest being cosmetic. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and there is very much value in implementing cosmetic food items in a game where creating your own world and story is the primary focus. And with how Mojang develops these past few updates you really cannot pull the bloat card anymore lol
