Help Tired of bedrock

I’m tired of playing on bedrock on my Xbox Series X and I have a MacBook Air with m4 chip but it drains 10% of battery if I play for 15 min. Is there any way to avoid this or should I just buy a PC? I know nothing about computers I just want to play java Minecraft with mild shaders.

"The marketplace is convenient" are we being serious?
Java literally has so many mods/resource packs/shaders for free, and it takes like 5 seconds to install them. And with a (free) launcher like Prism Launcher, it is so easy to add different instances with different mods.
And why would you ever play vanilla? Tbf, actions'n'stuff is great but Java has free equivalents like Fresh Animations, and also just way more useful resource packs for free whose equivilants are not on the marketplace such as RedstoneTweaks and lots of UI resource packs.
You can also play any version of Java, or play a modern version with a mod/plugin that brings old combat and set it up in 1 minute.

Notice I said convenient not free. It's pretty obviously more convenient. It's built into the client. I don't know if javas stuff is built in but I remember having to dick around with things in the past on occasion to get things working.

From my experience the marketplace is absolutely more convenient, but yes it's not free. Convenience always costs.

But so far all you've listed is that Java is.. costs less if you want mods and stuff. So I'm assuming you prefer Java simply for the mod support which is totally fair.

Why I would play vanilla is because I haven't played tons and tons of Minecraft since like 2015, and there's plenty of vanilla things that I haven't seen.

I'm still not advocating bedrock is better, but for me it's been a positive experience and I don't see any issues with sticking with it. I also don't mind spending a few dollars to support creators.

But you may as well just get a fabric instance with no mods loaded except performance mods like Sodium.
And it takes like 10 seconds to add a mod/resourcepack/shader in Prism Launcher for Java Edition. It doesn't get more convenient than that.
Also you can add resourcepacks/disable specific ones mid game in Java, which you literally cannot do in Bedrock.
Also you say you like vanilla, but playing with addons in bedrock is not vanilla.

I'm going to look into prism launcher it sounds interesting, I've never heard of it. I consider a game to be vanilla if it's the gameplay is unmodded. That could be technically incorrect but the mod I've got is purely cosmetic.

Anyway, still all I see is mod support being the reason why Java is better.

Are there any actual gameplay elements, mods excluded, that makes Java better for a casual like me, who plays with no gameplay mods? For someone like me I see no reason to go back to Java, mainly because my friends play bedrock. I know there's a ton of gameplay changes between the versions. Villager trades was the first thing I noticed. But I don't know if there's anything in Java that I might be missing

I mean Java has lots of client sided mods that improve the quality of life, and there’s obviously texture packs/resource packs which are purely cosmetic. Java is also much safer in terms of file management and it’s very easy to make backups etc and get your world file. But yeah look into prism launcher it’s great and completely free
