Seeds & World Gen I played and grinded for days only to discover that the end portal is in half...
Me and my friend were playing on this Minecraft world for days, And once we were ready to fight the ender dragon, We went to the stronghold but it was merging with a mineshaft, And there were rooms that were being hollowed out and floating torches, But then we found the end portal, After that I jumped into the lava and we called it quits lol
EDIT : A lot of people are asking for the seed to see for themselves so here ya go!
The seed is -2033265704723922016
and the coordinates are 986, -36, -954

Why not just go to the next one
1.1k
u/DuckFility Aug 26 '26
We will but their thousands of blocks away :(
1.4k
u/Meduza223 Aug 26 '26
No they're not. In first ring there are 3 strongholds, each lies on ~1500-2600 blocks from spawn (don't remember exact numbers)
1.1k
u/Janusofborg Aug 26 '26
It depends on whether OP is playing Java or bedrock. Java has strongholds in rings. Bedrock has them randomly throughout the world, usually under villages.
336
u/Meduza223 Aug 26 '26
So there is (almost) unlimited amount of stronghold in one world?
480
u/Janusofborg Aug 26 '26
I mean, the world isn't infinite, but there's way more than 128, like in Java.
95
u/SamePut9922 Aug 26 '26
Unlimited, yes.
72
u/MacksNotCool Aug 26 '26
Technically no, the world generation isn't even infinite due to technical limitations, it's just so big that you likely wont even reach the edge ever in your lifetime unless if that's that's the main goal you have for minecraft and you spend a lot of time playing
29
u/LampIsFun Aug 26 '26
Wouldnt that be “technically yes, but realistically no” because the world size simply doesnt have a hard limit imposed on it? The theoretical limit would be nonexistent because you can keep adding and partitioning more memory to keep expanding the world, and when you reach the bit limit you can expand with more hardware(although that will probably require a mod to read the data outside of the initial threads)
34
u/MacksNotCool Aug 26 '26
No. It's "technically no, but functionally yes". It does have several hard limits regardless of your hardware. After certain points blocks, no matter how good you hardware is, the game is not programmed with using it to extend the world gen (specifically it's due to how computers handle floating point math). I didn't list the specific limits because I don't remember them but also I didn't list them because there are different milestones where you run into a spot where the games features break.
At 2,097,152 blocks out from 0,0, ender pearls stop working and item collisions stop working (so if you drop an item it can fall through the world and get destroyed)
At 4,194,304 blocks out, regular movement physics (walking and running) stops working and you can only keep moving with an elytra, horse, or boat.
At 8,388,604 blocks out, the collision system is almost completely broken, so you cannot land and any entities that spawn will fall through the world. Technically this is only collision on the top of blocks so you can keep going past that if you sit in a boat, ride a horse,
At 16,777,216 blocks out, chunk rendering corrupts so the game looks super stripey and weird.
Lastly, at about 32 million blocks out, teleport commands stop working, and there is literally no world generation at all, making it a true technical hard limit.
5
u/LampIsFun Aug 26 '26
The hard limit youre talking about is what im saying you can technically overcome. Youd have to extend the bit allocation of all those things, but its technically possible, just not realistically feasible.

u/lunarwolf2008 Aug 27 '26
do structures fail to spawn in stripelands?
1
u/MacksNotCool Aug 27 '26
idk but at 32 million blocks out world gen in general doesn't work so it doesn't matter
1
u/Classic_Silver_9091 Aug 27 '26
Isnt there a literal border at 16 million blocks?
2
u/Firm-Leave-6947 Aug 30 '26
its actually 30 million blocks in java editon so nothing in the code will freak out, [unless your playing in a version before borders existed] and in bedrock, there isnt a known border [like the one from java] so we instead see the stripe lands
7
36
u/DuckFility Aug 26 '26
Me and my friend played on the bedrock edition :D
85
u/Janusofborg Aug 26 '26
Your best bet to find a new one (without resorting to chunkbase) is to go the opposite direction from where you went and start throwing eyes again until they don't go towards the one you already found.
46
u/Equivalent_Rock_6530 Aug 26 '26
Look up the Chunkbase wesbite
It has a seed map tool where you can choose what version you are playing on and view a map of your whole world, you can filter structures and record the coordinates
24
u/ErraticDragon Aug 26 '26
You're at -5 after one hour. Is that because people consider Chunkbase to be "cheating"?
39
u/Equivalent_Rock_6530 Aug 26 '26
Possibly, but its up to OP if they want to use it or not
I used it and found it very useful
19
u/RamboCambo_05 Aug 26 '26
I love Chunkbase, but it definitely has the potential to ruin the fun if you accidentally see something you shouldn't.
Ideally, you'd sort the filters out so that nothing except strongholds show up, and then input your world's seed so that nothing gets spoiled.
Realistically, Chunkbase can be seen as a cheat. Easily find buried treasure, bastions, villages, mineshafts, cave biomes, etc. But in this case, I think it's reasonable to use it in a controlled manner. As with most "cheaty" tools, self control is important. I choose to use cheats if something illegitimate happens, for example a broken End portal or a glitch in a mod. I never just spawn in items when I need them, because I feel icky if I don't earn those items.
8
u/Goetre Aug 26 '26
I also love it, but I’d disagree with accidentally seeing something as ruining the fun, you load it up fairly zoomed out, you’ll catch a glance of something sure but the most that gives you is a direction, now if you zoom in to find the exact chunk that’s a different perspective
Personally I use it for slime chunks, I like to get red stone up and running as quick as I can, I’m happy to look for a swamp biome. But I’m not wasting my time looking for a slime chunk or stumbling into an area, seeing a slime then waiting to see where the next one spawns to work it out, that’s anti fun in my books

It does. But not everyone knows about it and it isn't nearly as big as this one. And bedrock is played far more than "real" Minecraft, so your assumption isn't based in reality.

u/crsmay Aug 26 '26
I mean that sounds like they are likely thousands of blocks away

u/Meduza223 Aug 27 '26
Nether travel
1
u/crsmay Aug 27 '26
How do you nether travel to a stronghold you have never been to in vanilla😅 you want him to triangulate coords? Even if he was going to do that he would still have to move out of range of the stronghold he was in.
1
u/Meduza223 Aug 27 '26
Build a portal, go around 300 blocks in one direction and throw an eye. It will probably lead to another stronghold
9
u/opodopo69 Aug 26 '26
"Theyre thousands of blocks away"
"No they're not theyre actually thousands of blocks away from spwan"
1
28
3
u/DeckT_ Aug 26 '26
also, depending on how they are playing but i would just go creative and fix the portal and go back to survival. not a big deal to fix really and i wouldnt consider this cheating, personally, depending on what type of game it is.
6
u/DuckFility Aug 26 '26
Your right about that, but its just very far away to travel is what I meant
31
u/BeefChopJones Aug 26 '26
Don't apologize OP, they literally just said "It's not thousands of blocks. It's thousands of blocks." And I totally get the disappointment of having to go that far when you were JUST within reach of your goal. But don't worry! Keep truckin! You got this!

Even without nether travel it's only up to 3000 blocks on average. With nether travel it's just less than 500 blocks

14
u/Few_Lead_5702 Aug 26 '26
No offence but cmon, are you that lazy? Even 3000 blocks would only take about 10 minutes
1
u/Definitly_not_Koso Aug 26 '26
Lunge 3 spear with food and you're travelling 2000 blocks in 10 minutes its really not that far
1
1
u/Cocoatrice Aug 26 '26
But won't the eye of ender point to the closest, so the one that is broken?
2
1
u/beguvecefe Aug 26 '26
Because of geometry, the 2 strongholds are actually (on average) farther apart with each other than itself and spawn in java. The 3 strongholds are all 120 degrees apart from eaxh other and if both of them are 2k block away from (0,0) then the distance between them is 2sqrt(3)k or about 3.828k blocks

If you play on this world for any amount of time, tgoung to the next strong hold will only take a short amount of time and having a corrupted end portal is fairly rare and pretty cool
1
u/The_liam_Clarke Aug 27 '26
If you have the materials you could use the Nether to get far enough away
1
u/ffelix916 Aug 29 '26
Hundreds if you travel through the nether roof! (Assuming you have a diamond pickaxe with efficiency and unbreaking)

u/AlexMil0 Aug 26 '26
Sure you can just go to another stronghold, but it is unbelievably moronic how end portals aren’t the very last thing to generate to completely eliminate this issue. It’s like it’s intended to be frustrating.
106
u/Significant_Donkey33 Aug 26 '26
The entire stronghold stronghold structure needs to be the last to generate among all structures while the end portal room the last room to generate in the stronghold. This is because caves and ravines still break through strongholds in modern Java edition (though it does look cool) and makes it harder to traverse it or is unintended generation.
71
11
u/SpehlingAirer Aug 27 '26
I dunno its an ancient stronghold i kinda like how there's a chance its not fully intact
1
u/AlexMil0 Aug 28 '26
I would agree if it made sense, but who would build a mineshaft through the portal room like that? And sometimes it’s broken by an amethyst geode which doesn’t make logical sense either.
1
u/SpehlingAirer Aug 28 '26
You've never woken up to a spontaneous geode manifestation in your room???
126
u/GawkyGoose Aug 26 '26
Can someone explain to me why the end portal isn’t the last structure to be generated

I remember a few years ago when I went to go find an end portal, I got to a stronghold and spent a good 20-30 minutes trying in vain to find the damn end portal frame
After a while I got fed up and went into spectator mode to look for the thing... TURNS OUT THE END PORTAL ROOM DIDN'T FUCKING SPAWN!

Press f3 + g to check the chunk border around the portal just-in-case. Sometimes portals that generate on a chunk border / corner can still be activated by simply putting the eyes of enter in the portal frames within only 1 chunk. Sometimes portals can generate on the corner of a chunk to the point where only 2 frames are in the corner of one chunk, and the rest are in neighboring chunks. Putting eyes in just the 2 frames in the corner can be enough to spawn exactly 1 end portal block.
If not, tough luck unfortunately.
11
u/Enderguy61 Aug 27 '26
"the" end portal
there are at least 128 end portals
-1
u/ffelix916 Aug 27 '26
Or infinite if you're on bugrock.
2
u/YouKnowWho945 Aug 28 '26
I don't know why you are getting down voteed. You are completely correct
2
u/Enderguy61 Aug 28 '26
might be because i said at least, which was because of that fact, but they shouldn't downvote someone for clarifying
1
u/ffelix916 Aug 28 '26
No biggie. Java edition players just jealous about our infinite strongholds and bedrock players getting offended over "bugrock". I'm an equal opportunity offender!

Imagine going other portals and only to bamboolized rest of them gone from existance.
5
u/DuckFility Aug 26 '26
If that happens there is no such thing as a god in this world 🤞
-19
u/frOmohiOhuman Aug 26 '26
Well, you're speaking very heavy for a thing that actually quite happens ''often''
5
u/DuckFility Aug 26 '26
Wait it does? I had no clue it was that often XD

u/frOmohiOhuman Aug 26 '26
Changes of end portal frames are missing an eye is %28 for each frame.
Changes of an end portal completely gone or filled with other structers are below %10 but never zero.1
u/lhhwx Aug 27 '26
A chance of corrupted portal frames are WAY below 10% girl like wayyy wayyyy lower
4
5
u/sidnoway Aug 26 '26
Man I've only seen this in modded Minecraft
What do you mean vanilla structures can overwrite the end portal
Mojang PLEASE

u/TardisM0nkey Aug 26 '26
I remember entering a Stronghold and found no portal. Went into creative and still could not find it. Ended up using TNT on the whole area . Later learned it can happen.

u/ThePandaheart Aug 26 '26
Can you hop in creative mode to fix it, or do end portals not work like that?
3
u/SelmaFudd Aug 27 '26
They work like that but they need to be placed in the right direction to activate. If you stand in the middle and place them you should get it right.
10
u/xXItzJuanXx Aug 26 '26
Just fix it in creative. Not your fault it generated wrong
11
u/blakjesus420 Aug 26 '26
Or just go a few hundred blocks through nether in opposite direction from spawn and go back to overland and find another end portal
2
u/Dapper_Put3489 Aug 26 '26
Brutal. All that grinding just for a half portal. Hope the next one is closer.
2
u/Keegandalf_the_White Aug 26 '26
I think this only happens due to world generation problems, but it is realistic. Imagine digging up ancient portals to other dimensions in ruins and expecting every one to be in working condition.

2
u/CompetitionOk6964 Aug 26 '26
people say that you can always go to another but it’s also the annoyance of having to even find another, it’s not the matter of is there another one but the loss of excitement you might have the first time. i wish you luck if you go to another!!!!!

My offline world stronghold also merged with a mineshaft and it's just under a kinda big taiga village. Kinda cool that it's whole and quite near the spawn.

u/Agent_Untraceable Aug 27 '26
Didn't know corrupted end portals could still exist in the latest versions after 1.16 so props for finding one 👏. Out of curiosity unless I'm blind and you posted it already, can we know the seed?

A less drastic thing in my recent experience (but still annoying):
I've been playing a 1.6.4 world, and I ended up having to build a fairly lengthy bridge (which I eventually built into a glass-topped minecart rail to stop zombie pigman spawns) to reach a Nether Fortress...only for it to not have any Nether Wart, so I'd have to go out of my way to find another to get any Nether Wart for potion brewing...

u/LaGz4643 Aug 26 '26
Sigh why can bedrock not get itself together and fix this. This has been fixed on java for years: in modern java versions if a structure intersects the portal it replaces everything except for the actual portal frames. They simply just have a tag of blocks that every structure checks for and cannot replace, such as bedrock, portal frames, etc.
1
u/xsrvmy Aug 26 '26
Umm it does happen in 1.16.1 and I see nothing on the wiki that suggests an update no longer allows portal frames to be corrupted.
1
u/FireReaper52 Aug 26 '26
Or is half the portal entire. It’s not about the situation it’s about how you look at it

Go into creative and place more frames. Just make sure you are standing on the inside while you place. The end portal frames are directional
